Welcome to Port Orleans French Quarter! Like in August, we managed to make it to the resort in the early afternoon and had no wait and the online check-in desk. Despite all I had heard about how crowded Disney was already, the resort didnt seem very busy. Our rooms were even ready even though it was still a few hours before regular check-in time.
After check-in, I noticed that the Jackson Square Gifts shop had its window display completely themed to
The Princess and the Frog
The main lobby was decorated with trees, wreaths and garlands for Christmas.
We were all a little hungry, so before taking our bags to our rooms, we stopped for lunch at the Sassagoula Floatworks food court which promised New Orleans treats and
Princess and the Frog- inspired surprises. I didnt really notice any movie-inspired surprises, but there was still some good New Orleans food. After really enjoying the Muffuletta sandwiches at Riverside in August, Mom and I tried them again here, and theyre just as good in the French Quarter.

Buzz ended up getting the Cheese Steak and Dad got some pizza- all of which was good.
After lunch, we made it to our rooms. They were pretty close to the main building so it was a short walk to both the food court and the bus stop. The rooms were good-sized too and looked great.
The Mardi Gras bedspreads were pretty cool. Close closely and youll find a few hidden Mickeys too.
Table and seating area.
The paintings in the room were inspirational art of
Disneylands New Orleans Square. If you look closely at this one, you can see the entrance to Pirates of the Caribbean and the artist on the right is painting the Haunted Mansion.
On top of the usually towel Mickeys, we also had this towel creation. We couldnt really figure out what it was at first, but we think that it might be a Christmas tree with garland and ornaments.
We were getting unpacked and started getting ready for our evening at the Contemporary when Dad realized that he had left one of his suitcases back at the house and didnt have half his clothes for the trip including the shirt he had been planning on wearing to The Wave that night!

We ended up running to the resort shop but couldnt find anything. It looked like he would have to either wear what we wore on the trip up or find something at another shop before dinner.
While everyone else was still getting ready, I headed back to the lobby since I hadnt had a chance to look around the shop yet. Inside, the questions on the shops trivia board were all about
The Princess and the Frog.
After looking around the shop, I headed back to the lobby to check out the trees again.
Along with the ornaments and ribbons, each tree was also decorated with portraits of Jazz Age New Orleans. After a while, I began to recognize the locations and style as being from
The Princess and the Frog as well. I had read somewhere that the decorations at Port Orleans this were inspired by the film, but I couldnt find any reports on The Dis that this was actually the case.
The lilly pads were my first clue that they were scenes from the movie.
By the time I got to this one though, I was sure all the scenes were from
The Princess and the Frog. Looks like the La Bouff mansion to me.
Eventually, the rest of the family showed up, but before heading on, I made a quick stop at the gift shop to buy a
The Princess and the Frog pin. I was hoping to be able to find this particular pin since it was the only one released that had had both Princess Tiana
and Prince Naveen in human form, but since it was a pretty limited edition that was released on the films opening day, I figured that it would be sold out by the time I made it to Disney. Having learned my lesson from our October trip, I decided to just go ahead and get it first thing and not assume it would be in other places.T urned out to be a good plan because I didnt see it at any other store or pin cart on property. Plus, it seemed like a fitting souvenir since it was clear that this trip to the French Quarter would be pretty
Princess and the Frog intensive. After getting the pin, we left to explore more of the resort.
