We are doing a 3 way split in February over 10 nights with 3 kids (8,6, almost 3). We didn't originally plan for 3 hotels, but due to flights we ended up adding 2 days at the beginning and Poly wasn't available. We currently have 2 nights LM room at AoA, 2 nights Poly (DVC rental) and 6 nights POR. I got a great bounceback deal on that. My husband is running the Princess half marathon, so we are coming in the Thursday before and staying until the following Sunday. We have 7 day park tickets that start Saturday, and plan to do some half park days and some full.
Anyway, now I'm thinking it might be nice to add a day at Poly before switching to POR, so it would be 2-3-5 instead of 2-2-6. Obviously it would be a separate reservation, but would we be able to stay in the same room? Would it feel more relaxed to have 3 nights there and 5 nights at POR, or to settle in for 6 full nights at POR?
We're planning to do a half day at DHS on Saturday to take advantage of the Skyliner, and then a half day at MK on Sunday after the race. Currently the plan is to then monorail to EPCOT on Monday, then bus or Minnie Van to POR when we are done, but if we switch then we could take full advantage of the monorail to and from Epcot, and then head to MK via monorail or boat on Tuesday morning.

I had the same question recently and was assured the front desk would make sure to keep you in the same room if the same type on both reservations. We have the same issue next month.

I say add it. 2 nights is too short to have to make a move (says the girl with a 2-3-7 next month lol).

That's good to know!
Yeah it would only cost an additional $270 to what the split stay is costing now.
I think it will be nice to have 1 more day at Poly after a busy weekend.

I would add the night at Poly. I'm not a fan of staying less than 3 nights at any resort.

I would vote for adding another night at Poly if you are able to get another DVC side room and can hopefully stay in the same room. I'm not a fan of doing split stays where I'm at a place for less than 3 nights. Also, more time a Poly means more opportunities to watch the MK fireworks from the Poly beach. I always enjoy this! I think your kiddos might enjoy it too. :)
