3 sisters + 2 worlds=5 days of Orlando fun! An Aug. '10 TR...final thoughts p. 45

That was a great update! We haven't been to IOA since 2002....I never opened my eyes on Dueling Dragons and now I can't wait to ride it again. Your pictures are great! It's so beautiful...I can't wait to visit!!!

I'm not an HP fan, but I will admit that the WWOHP looks really cool! I've never visited US/IOA but I know that my thrill seeking boys would love it so I'm sure I'll end up over there someday!

Forbidden Journey and Dragon Challenge sound like a lot of fun. One of these days I've got to go to IOA.

Great updates. This is getting me way excited for December! :cool1:

I :lovestruc Dueling Dragons last time we were there - so I can't wait!

I'm worried that I won't be able to go on FJ, but it looks so fun. I hope I can!

OK, so I'm really late joining in...but I just spent a couple of hours reading all of the TR! I love it Sarah. You always provide lots of great photos to set the scene, of stuff most people never think to photograph.

The Hedwig's theme link was a great idea, I always hear that in my head when I think Harry Potter.

I'm kind of anti Universal, but WWoHP has me really contemplating going.

If you waited 45 minutes at 'RD'...I'm hoping if I go during low crowd season that I could ride FJ with less of a wait. That's part of my hesitation with IOA - I hate that you have to pay for Universal Express - why would I do that when Disney gives it to me for free? I always go at low crowd times so I don't have a high tolerance for long waits. Thirty minutes is about my limit. So I have to wrap my head around the cost of a IOA ticket and a possible long wait....would you say it's worth it? I do love Harry Potter!

Hey, great pics and great details! I have a nine yeara old son who is a bit of a ride chicken, but is a HUGE Harry Potter fan. We are going next month and are trying to convince him to ride the FJ. I think he will regret it if he doesn't, but I don't want him terrified. He does love Soarin' but hates rollercoasters. With that little bit of knowledge, what are your thoughts on him liking it?

Thanks for posting! Hmm, that is a really good question. I have a hard time answering because obviously I don't know what your son can handle. What doesn't he like about roller coasters? Like I said the ride is REALLY jerky...Soarin is a lot smoother ride than FJ. Maybe you could youtube the ride and kind of get a feel for it? I know it's dark so it'd be hard to judge what the movement is like. The other thing is would he freak out at the things that pop out suddenly? I don't know, my first response would be if you don't like roller coasters you probably wouldn't like FJ but you never know. Hopefully you can convince him to ride!

Wow what a great start to your morning! :thumbsup2

It was an awesome start!

Dragon Challenge was so much fun. Glad you are enjoying the pictures!

If your boys like thrill rides then they have to go to Universal some day.

Forbidden Journey and Dragon Challenge sound like a lot of fun. One of these days I've got to go to IOA.

Yes, you should go!

You will really enjoy WWOHP! It really does feel like you walked right onto one of the movie sets.

I hope you can ride FJ too. Like I said, there really is nothing like it. :thumbsup2

Glad you enjoyed reading so far! I still have 2 1/2 days to go, so you're not too far behind. LOL.

OK, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks of that song when they think of HP!

Usually we don't wait longer than 30 minutes, even when we've taken trips during peak season! If you go during a low crowd time then I don't think the wait would be too bad. The other thing is that I've read a lot of TRs where people do the other stuff first and go to WWOHP later in the afternoon and it isn't typically that busy. And if you are "anti-Universal" that means you probably won't be going too often. We didn't mind waiting because we don't really know when we'll be going to Universal again. If you love Harry Potter I'd say go for it!

I am even more excited to ride FJ when I go on my trip next month (which was finally made official this past weekend...woo hoo!) after hearing you rave about it! I'm watching the YouTube video if it right now :p The details of WWOP are so amazing. I love what they did with Buckbeak!

The pic of you in front of the castle is really cute!! And yay! you did it!!! And loved it!! The ride sounds really interesting...it loads like Buzz - so it's in continuous motion? But the ride vehicle lifts into the air like Soarin? And then tosses you around like Dinosaur? I can't even wrap my head about that! :rotfl: It sounds crazy, but like it would be fun! Too bad it's bumpy though!

Cinderella. I got it and had to look it up

Ahhhhh! Chubby little round thing doesn't click with Cinderella to me! ;) But now I see it! Thanks!

Great updates Sarah! First off, great ending a day at AK. You three sure got to do a lot and I love the new Vinylmation guys too!! They are so darn cute!! Beautiful pics of SSR too early in the morning and great reporting on Mears bus service. Sounds like that worked out well too! Wonderful report on the WWOHP. I only read part of the first book and saw part of the first movie but that new area looks REALLY awesome and I am sure for fans like you 3 it was awesome! My sister would really really like that place, she is a true HP fan as well! The theme of it all is wonderful! Thanks for such a great report of it all so far!!!:goodvibes:goodvibes

Yay for making your visit official! I seriously cannot say enough about FJ. It was an amazing ride and I am SO glad I decided to give it a shot. :thumbsup2

LOL, yeah, that's why everyone says there's nothing like it out there. I think I might've said something about Sum of All Thrills too...have you seen that at Epcot? I guess that could describe the bounciness/bumpiness. But it does sort of remind me of Dinosaur! LOL.

I love the vinylmation keychains. Now Mom is saying she wants to get one in March. SSR is such a pretty resort, especially in the morning. I love it there!

We all really had a great time at WWOHP and are already talking about going back. It won't happen on our upcoming trips but hopefully soon!

Wow, where have I been lately?! I've been horrible at updating this TR...it's been almost two weeks since the last post. Part of me has just been lazy but then this week I've been battling a cold (so much fun) and just haven't felt up to updating. But, it's the end of the week :cool1: so why not finally get to some more of the TR!

Wednesday, August 11, 2010 cont'd (part 5)

After our successful hour of hitting all three of the rides, it was time to check out some more of the Wizarding World. Part of the attraction is also the shops. And shopping is always fun. :)

A lovely shot of the whole area...notice already it's pretty crowded! And it's not a huge area to begin with so you can imagine later in the day it gets PACKED. I'm trying to think of a land in Disney that might compare in size but can't come up with anything as of right now. Just know that it is small! I'd say it would take maybe a couple minutes to walk from one end to the other (if there was nobody in there of course, hehe).

ETA: It might help if I actually post the picture!

As we were walking over to the candy store, Honeydukes, we noticed that the conductor of the Hogwarts Express was out by the train so we decided to stop and get a picture. We all ended up getting our own pictures, which normally I feel bad about (it always annoys me when people have to get pictures of every combination in their group) but luckily there weren't too many people waiting. Then I didn't feel quite so bad.

The conductor was pretty cool. I love the goofy look on his face. And I like how I got a "Thing" in the background. In case you haven't noticed in Disney World, those are the hot item at US/IOA. EVERYONE has those shirts (my sister and I even got them on our last visit...that was before they added more thing shirts. I guess they realized some kids felt left out).

When we all had our turn with the conductor we got in line to go into Honeydukes. Yes, you read that right, we got in line. Apparently when they were building WWOHP JK Rowling wanted the stores to be tiny to make them more authentic. Fortunately, we only had to wait a couple of minutes before we were able to get in.

Once we got inside, we had entered a little piece of heaven. There were all sorts of yummy treats right out of Harry's world:

Chocolate frogs (that even came with a trading card just like they do in the books/movies)
40861_652786139384_20305212_37384696_771334_n.jpg

Exploding candies (I don't remember those but oh well)
39880_652444049934_20306951_37366878_1525800_n.jpg

Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans
39880_652444054924_20306951_37366879_2600895_n.jpg

And by every flavor, they mean every flavor. In the books I know they talk about earwax and other nasty flavors. We never did get any of those so who knows if there really are gross ones. But I think there are!

It was really hard not to buy anything right away when you're surrounded by all those sweets. For such a small space there were lots of things to choose from!

39669_1395491699745_1605780003_31171310_2356871_n.jpg

Cauldron cakes and fudge...how do you choose?! Everything looked so good.

39478_652444094844_20306951_37366883_5766434_n.jpg

But, like I said, we weren't going to buy anything just yet because we knew if we got anything chocolate it would just turn to soup. We decided we'd visit again before leaving. So we headed on over to Zonko's Joke Shop which is attached to Honeydukes. There they sold all sorts of authentic merchandise.

A shot from inside. This pretty much shows a good portion of the store! LOL. Public Service Announcement...if you're claustrophobic don't go in there!

One of the hot items at this store is the Pygmy Puff. I guess they have a hard time keeping them in stock but they had some that day. We debated getting one but then thought what we would do with it. Probably nothing. But they are kind of cute.

After a while I had had enough of being so crowded in there so we headed back outside, only to go get in line for another store that was also very crowded. :rotfl:

up next: How long did we wait to get into Dervish and Banges?

Yay for more Harry Potter! We had a store around here that had Bertie Botts every flavor beans and they had ones like earwax and vomit. We just had to try them and yes they were entirely disGUSting! :crazy2:

Yum for a chocolate frog and I LOVe the look on the conductor's face! :rotfl:

Wow,wow, wow! Love all the HP stuff!! Expecially Honeydukes. Thank you so much for the great report on WHHOP. One of these days I'll get over there to see it....

There's a candy store here called Dylan's Candy Bar that sells Bertie Bott's Beans. I remember seeing the earwax flavor. I haven't tried them though. It looks like WWOP has every flavor listed in the book, which is cool yet disgusting at the same time lol! Uh oh...those Pygmy Puffs are pretty cute! I might cave next month and get one :X

All that candy looks good, can't wait to see what you did end up buying. Did you just purchase a one day pass to the park, it seems like it is pretty expensive for one day. I would love to go, but with such short trips to WDW I hate to spend too much time at Universal.

Mmmm all that candy looks so good! That whole Harry Potter area looks really pretty, it's too bad it's so small!
