3 sisters + 2 worlds=5 days of Orlando fun! An Aug. '10 TR...final thoughts p. 45

LOVED your updates Sarah!! Bummer that the RnRC single line was a little bit of a downer. I would (my son Gabe especially) would love Pizza Planet looking like how it does in the movie. Maybe if they ever moved it over to the Pixar Place they would change it's appearance?? The line for Lotso themed like the daycare is just too cool!!! What an incredible job staying with the theme! We would like to meet Lotso too (even though he is a "bad guy")!! Looking forward to seeing what you draw at the animation academy!!!:goodvibes

Mmm Pizza planet! The food there sounds so good. My sis and I always end up sharing, too, because we both don't eat alot and it saves money. Plus I hate wasting food and in Disney you don't want to be carrying leftovers around all day.

The queue to meet Lotso is adorable! Your pic with him turned out to be so cute! Aww! I wish he smelled like strawberries, lol. although I read that the queue smells like them though.

I am looking forward to the rest of your report. :)
I'm heading to the world in november (trying to get excited for it).
I am excited to do my first trip report when i get home in november not that i'm going to rush through my vacation in order to post something. lol.

Welcome! You are just TRYING to get excited? You will have so much fun! It'll be fun to do a TR though when you get home to relive your vacation. :thumbsup2

Hi There, Gleek Here! :lmao:

My DSIL just made me a copy of her Glee Complete OST. I have 108 songs from Glee now!

Okay, going back to read your update now.

Whoa, 108?! I have a lot of the Glee songs on my ipod but not that many! LOL.

What did you think of the Britney episode?

I so need to see TS3. I am so behind. We never go to movies anymore.

Glad you got to meet Lotso. It would be really cool if the character actually did smell like strawberries.

We've never eaten at Pizza planet. I keep wanting to try it, but we just don't ever remember to and end up at yucky Backlot.

And love the AI pic!

You still haven't seen Toy Story 3? Aww, it is so good! Be prepared to laugh (and cry...).

I was glad we got to meet Lotso too. He was cool.

Mmm, Pizza Planet is yummy. You should try it on your next trip.

Just read your AIE update too - we still have yet to do that! It will probably have to wait a few years until Henry can truly sit still. If it was bands or dancing he could be entertained, but I know he'd get bored with singing. Or maybe when the boys are off to do LMA I'll hit this up. :scratchin

I like that idea!

I agree with you on the Lotso area! It really is adorable! I asked the CM about him smelling like strawberries and she said he does not - just in case someone had an allergy or the like that came to meet him. However, she said "It is in the air...." so they must spray something somehow so you get a faint smell. This same CM also had a whole backstory on why they allowed Lotso, the mean bear, to be at DHS.

I'm hoping the rain holds off for you ladies!

I like that idea too! Sounds like a plan!

Ahh, that makes sense. I honestly didn't even notice the strawberry scent though in the air. Interesting!

That queue to meet Lotso has got to be the cutest thing ever! I wish I could've seen it!!!!!

It really was adorable. :cutie:

I do wish Pizza Planet was like the real one! I think it's a cute idea but it isn't as awesome as it could be!

Both times we went to the Lotso area it smelled strongly of strawberries :confused3 My dad hated that smell  Glad you got to meet Lotso!

Can't wait to see how your drawing turns out!

That's funny that both you and Brook said something about the air smelling like strawberries and I didn't even notice it. Unless they didn't have it the day we went. haha

I'm not going to lie, my drawing pretty much rocked. :teeth: You'll have to wait and see who we did though!

I love all of the details from the line area. When we visited Lotso I hadn't seen the movie yet, so I didn't pay attention to all the little details. I do remember thinking how cuddly Lotso was and he really did smell like strawberries.

I thought it was so cute how they made the area so much like Sunnyside in the movie. Very well done.

Lotso really is a sweetheart in the parks. I'm not sure if that makes him cute or if that just makes him feel more two-faced. I was really glad that he didn't have the long waits like the UP characters did though. Not sure if he's less popular or whether only having one characters to greet guests and sign autograph books there makes the line go faster. :confused3

Yeah, it was nice that the wait wasn't too long. I'm still mad at myself for not waiting for the Up characters. Oh well.

It did sort of stink about the wait at RNRC but it all worked out. That would be cool if they redid the Pixar area and rethemed Pizza Planet. The other thing I really want is the rocketship game where you can get one of the little aliens. I've always wanted one of those. haha!

The food there IS good. But then again I love pizza and could eat it all the time. Exactly, you don't want to carry leftovers around but then where do you put it? Not all of the rooms have refrigerators. I know when we ate at Rainforest Cafe I had some leftovers that we could take back but I don't know where we would've kept it if it weren't for the studio having the refrigerator.

Thanks for the compliment on the picture. You should've seen Emma's photopass picture with him. The photographer got one right as she was going up to him and giving him a hug. It was super cute.

It would be so cool if Pizza Planet looked more like the one in the movie!!!

I love the way they have the character meet and greet for Lotso setup! It looks great! I wonder though, how many little kids who have seen the movie so Lotso and freaked!? Not only is he really mean in the movie but now he's the size of a grownup! :scared1:

Yay for the AIE! I'm such a huge fan...I don't know why I haven't made it there yet.:confused3 It looks like so much fun!:thumbsup2

So cool that you got to meet Lotso! What a cute queue!!:)

nice update!! That is sad because the day you were there was the day I had to leave :( Is it me or does the pizza at PP taste much better than any other pizza at WDW even though it's the same?? I've always thought that..my parents too. Odd isn't it??

haha, I don't know. All the kids when we went seemed pretty ok...except there might've been one who was afraid.

I hope you get to make it to AIE soon if you love the show. It's really a good time and well worth trying atleast once.

Thanks! Awww, that is kind of sad though, I hate reading other TRs where people are having fun and it's the day we left.

haha, I can't say I've really noticed it tastes better than other places but it sure is good!

They TOTALLY need to reno Pizza Planet to look more like the movie!

Can you believe I still haven't seen TS3?! :sad2: I'm ashamed to admit that but I never made it out to the movies.

Great updatres Sarah! We didn't see AIE so I enjoyed your account of it - we watch the show so I think we'd enjoy seeing AIE - maybe next trip!

We too LOVE  LOVE Pizza Planet! Kids ate all of their pizza there too (so it msut be good)! We really enjoyed it - I too wish it looked more like the movie one, that would be really fun.

The queue for Lotso is adorable! We didn't meet him so we didn't see that part either - but it looks really cute! Love the colored pictures on the bulleton boards and the group pictures of the kids - so cute!

Glad you got into the Animation studio - can't wait to see what you drew!

Let's start a petition to redo Pizza Planet. I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes that idea. hehe

Ahhh, you have to see it! Atleast it comes out on DVD in about a month. It is really good. :thumbsup2

Definitely try to do AIE next trip! I like that you are thinking of that after just making you first one. :)

I love the little kid drawings. They are just adorable and the class pictures are too cute. :goodvibes

Next update is coming soon!

I don't know how I forgot this but I just saw my sister's facebook status...

Happy Birthday Disney World!!!

:bday:::MickeyMo

39 years ago our favorite place opened. We sure have had a lot of great memories over the years and can't wait to make many more. :goodvibes

Your pictures of the area where you met Lotso are so cute. Definitely worth the wait for you. Did you draw Lotso? Do they ever do TS characters?

Ahhh, I forgot too!! Happy Birthday Disney World, thank you Walt!!!

Yes, definitely thank you Walt! :goodvibes:wizard:

No, we didn't draw Lotso. I don't know if they do Toy Story characters. I do know that they have 28 characters to choose from...that's what our artist told us.

Look at your ticker...are you going to MVMCP?! So jealous!!!

Time for another update! But first I have to share our little Halloween purchase we made today. Mom and I stopped at K-mart this morning and my mom spotted this adorable little Tinkerbell pumpkin. Well of course we had to get it! It looks a lot like this one from the Disney Store, only ours was a little bit cheaper (and it's orange with a green light). It is super cute!

They also had a Mickey Mouse one but I liked the Tink one better. :) Just wanted to share...you can never have too much Disney stuff, especially when it comes to the holidays. haha!

Now back to the trip report...

Tuesday, August 10, 2010 cont'd (part 5)

After meeting our friend Lotso it was time to visit the Animation Academy! Dad and I first tried this in April and we both really enjoyed it. So much in fact that we did it twice. I had told my sisters about it. Claire had agreed that it seemed like a lot of fun but I wasn't sure about Emma. I was afraid she wouldn't go for it but surprisingly also agreed to give it a shot. Now the question was, would she like it???

When we got over to the academy, the waiting area was already filled and the CM told us we might not make it into the next session. I didn't know if my sisters would want to wait but Claire said we might as well. Plus, when we were standing there, we heard what sounded like thunder and also saw some people outside start putting on ponchos. So it was a good time to just stay inside.

It was actually really fun waiting because the cast member decided to entertain everyone with some Disney trivia. He asked a lot of questions about Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, and Cinderella. I don't remember all of the questions but to test your Disney knowledge, here are a couple that I do remember. I'll post the answers in the next update!

1. How did they come up with the name Maleficent (i.e. which words did they combine?)?

2. What was the name Cinderella originally gave to Gus?

3. What is the name of the prince in Snow White?

Be sure to post your guesses...let's see who wins!

Like I said, those are just the couple I remember but it was a fun way to pass the time. After about 15-20 minutes they started letting people into the class. I think we JUST made it into that session. We weren't able to sit at the desks--we were in the front row and had to use the lapboards. It was actually OK though because it was easier to see what the instructor was doing then. haha

Our instructor's name was Brian and I have to say he is the best instructor ever. I remember that we had him in April too and he was really good. As we were walking in he was giving his little spiel about the class. He asked us what we noticed about the pencils (they don't have erasers) and said it was because it's just a twenty minute class and that everyone should just try their best. Then he told us who we were going to be drawing. It was STITCH!!! There were some cheers and some grumbles because, as Brian said, you either love Stitch or hate him. I was actually pretty excited to draw him.

Now here is one thing that I think is super cool about Brian. Before we even started drawing, he asked if anyone had ever done the Animation Academy. A few hands went up. Then he asked if anyone had ever drawn Stitch before. There were a couple girls who raised their hands so he started asking them questions about how they drew him, like was it a profile or straight-on image, etc. So basically, even though some people had already drawn him (I guess that's kind of unavoidable) he tried to make it a little different than what they had already drawn. Keep this in mind for a future post...

Finally we started our drawings. Shortly after we started Emma was not very happy with how hers was going. She whispered "this is TERRIBLE!" which was actually pretty funny. At the end though, her drawing was not that bad at all. It is sort of fun though going through the steps and seeing your character develop. As I said in my April TR, I am kind of a perfectionist so I always get nervous before starting my drawing. I WANT it to be really good. When we were all done, I have to say I was pretty pleased with how my Stitch came out:

Not bad if I do say so myself! It just goes to show that anyone can do this class because I am a horrible drawer. I think maybe I should quit my teaching job and just become an animator. All I need is an instructor to show me how and I'd be all set. hehe Whenever I look at it I always think of "Ohana means family" for some strange reason.

When we were all done Brian wanted to see how we all did so I proudly held up my drawing. He ended the class with a little trivia question, and the person who got the correct answer would get his drawing. The question was what is the name of Stitch's girlfriend? I honestly had no idea but I learned that it is Angel! She is the little pink alien who looks exactly like Stitch. I think he said he appears in the Stitch TV series or something.

As for my what my sisters thought of it, they both really enjoyed it too! Woo hoo! :thumbsup2 So with our new drawings, we headed back outside to go use our Toy Story Mania fastpasses.

I know this update is majorly lacking the photo department but here are a couple shots from our way to Pixar Place. We never did make it into the Great Movie Ride. Oh well.

Once we were over at TSM, I think we waited 15 minutes or so which wasn't bad. I used my same strategy of saving my arm energy for the games though it didn't seem to work. It still felt like my arm was going to fall off at the end. I did manage to get my camera out in time at the end to get a picture of the new additions:

Buttercup was on the prize screen! And not a bad score again.

By that time we had pretty much covered all of our must-sees. The brief little shower had ended so we decided to head right on over to the Animal Kingdom!

That pumpkin is so cute! Where is there a Kmart 'round here? Can't picture one :confused3 Then again, I'm more of a Target girl anyway

Your Stitch is cute! I can't draw either, but I love the animation academy too.

Yay for the TSM updates! You ladies got a lot accomplished that morning.

Only know #3 His name is "the prince"

I love that Tink pumpkin!!! :lovestruc I'm going to have to take a little trip to Kmart after work tomorrow to see if I can get one!

Your Stitch drawing is adorable! I'm a bad drawer (? is that even a word? :rotfl:) too, I doubt if I took that class mine would come out that good! I hope I can remember to try it in November!

Great job on the Stitch:thumbsup2 Also love the shots of the GMR. Such a beautful facade. Isn't Snow White's prince Prince Charming?

Fabulous job on Stitch! We've never done Animation Academy! I'm hoping to do it in Dec or March!

I love that pumpkin! I may have to visit Kmart soon :rolleyes1
