3 sisters + 2 worlds=5 days of Orlando fun! An Aug. '10 TR...final thoughts p. 45

Thanks to Stacy I don’t think I can ever refer to them as anything other than the triple mountain whammy. It’s all wham!

I'm the same way! :rotfl:

THANK YOU for not using flash photography!! :thumbsup2

WOW! What a wonderful and easy morning in MK Sarah! I STILL need to see the morning show to open the park! I will be so determined on our next trip!! AWESOME that you have a Spring Break trip in the works!! I am glad you won't have to miss out on a spring trip after all!!

You have awesome pics too! Claire's Splash pic turned out really cool and I love the black and white Pirates pic too!! How cute that the little girl tried to dig out the jewels! My kiddos probably would have tried too! I can't wait to see pics of Tiana and Naveen! I was sad to miss them, I hope they keep them around permanently or at least put Tiana in the Princess meet n' greet line!!!

I have spent so much time superglued to the wedding boards for ages I keep forgetting to come over here an read all the great TR's.
I'm here now though and sticking around ;) sounds like a great start to the trip, well minus the rain. I can't wait to go back, so this time I can watch the MK opening ceremony it looks so good.

Woo hoo, I got to read back to back MK updates! :woohoo: I like the pictures on the Fantasyland construction boards and can't wait to see how far along they are in Nov/Dec.

Jack Sparrow... sigh, how handsome you are. :lovestruc I love the b/w Pirates picture. I wish my camera did that.

Yay for Old Key West! Is it wrong that I actually started to think to myself if I could swing coming with you? :rolleyes1

You should definitely try to get to the morning show at MK. It's so much fun and I know your kids would love it. I am so glad I'll still be able to go again even if it is a couple weeks later than expected.

We had a great meet and greet with Tiana and Naveen. Can't wait to post that update...hopefully tonight or tomorrow. It's the first day of school!

Hi Sarah, welcome! Glad you are joining in. :thumbsup2 Yes, the MK opening show is awesome. I hope you get to see it on your next trip!

It'll be interesting to see in your TR then what it all looks like in November. Be sure to take pictures. ;)

LOL, that is funny. Sure, you can come along!

I can't go up the hill on Everest without saying (or at least thinking) "Hmmm... that's interesting...there doesn't seem to be any track!"

Hi Sarah!

Love your MK day - it is so much more fun now reading people's TR's sicne we've been there - now that I've seen it in person it's like a whole new experience looking at other peoples pictures!

I did want to comment on your discussion of Fantasyland being torn up (even though I did know about it in advance, I didn't know what extent it would be). It was torn up for us too, and being a first timer I have two ways of thinking about it. I was disappointed that ITSW was down, was really looking forward to that, and the construction along the back of FL was very noticable - obviously big walls everywhere, and then the Pooh entrance torn up too make it feel like a bit of a construction zone back there. But, on the other hand, not knowing what it was like before probably made the construction easier for us - we didn't have any expectation of what we were going to see so we were not really too disappointed at what was missing or not seeing what it used to look like. They did a decent job of hiding the construction fairly well, so we just breezed past it and moved on to what was open and not under construction. :thumbsup2

Great update! I miss WDW so much. I went to Hershey Park yesterday and it made me miss Disney even more...nothing compares.

Claire's Splash picture came out great!

No, it's not sad. I miss the old resort loop too. The new one is not only way toned down but it's so short! I did find the whole loop on google video a while ago and now have it on my ipod so I can enjoy Stacy whenever I wish.

Did you really? LOL oh darn, if only my iPod played videos, I'd totally put the Stacy on mine too, haha!

That is a GREAT idea!!! I'm putting her on mine too, Henry will LOVE it for the plane ride down! :hyper:

Hi Karen! It really is quite a different experience seeing pictures vs. seeing it in person. I'm so glad you guys had a good trip.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the construction. It obviously didn't bother us since we knew it was there too and we've seen the park dozens of other times but I still am anxious to see what it'll look like when it's all done in a couple years.

Thanks! Ugh, I hear ya. We went to Six Flags a couple years ago and any other theme park/amusement park just doesn't compare. I guess I am a Disney snob.

LOL yes, I do have Stacy on my iPod. My ipod's actually almost full but I don't want to take that video off for more music! Time for a new ipod...

Awesome updates!!! :thumbsup2

Thanks Sophia. :)

That is a GREAT idea!!! I'm putting her on mine too, Henry will LOVE it for the plane ride down! :hyper:

I have Stacy AND the old old resort loop with the Zip-A-Dee-Do-Dah...tip for today. That is classic.:thumbsup2

I cannot wait for the new Fantasyland to be completly done! I'm really excited for it

BTMRR... ah, one of my favorite mountains (:

Hi everyone! Time for a double update since I've been busy this week with school starting up!

Monday, August 9, 2010 cont'd (part 3)

After our ride on the Magic Carpets we headed out towards Main Street because I wanted to see the Move it Shake it Celebrate it parade. Both Claire and I thought that Emma should see it since on our trip last August it got cut short because of bad weather (both of us had seen the whole show on our trips earlier this year). Claire’s other reason for wanting to see it was that she said she likes hearing the “Celebrate You” song in the parks because she said it just makes you happy and want to dance. Haha I have to agree, I love that song. It’s the one they play now at the beginning of the resort loop show and it’s performed by Corbin Bleu.

We found a spot on the Adventureland side of the hub and waited for the parade to start. We were right around here:

And an interesting shot Emma took of the castle:

I don’t think too many people were aware it was going to be starting because there were only a few people standing around. I think once it’s actually up at the hub people stop to watch. Before long we heard the Hannah Montana song to signify the start of the parade. That song is so catchy it is stuck in my head as I type this. Also catchy enough that I downloaded it and have it on my ipod just because it makes me think of that parade. Yes I am that cool. 8-)

I have to say I love how interactive the parade is. It’s so cute seeing all the young kids bouncing around and especially the young girls who adore Hannah Montana and are singing along to the couple songs of hers they play. But when the dancers were making their way around the hub and trying to get people to scream or whatever we were just standing there and got a look from one of the dancers, like she was thinking “these people are boring.” Oops. My excuse is it was “too hot.” I was also keeping an eye out for this awesome CM who I saw on our April trip who was dancing the entire time. Sadly she must not have been working that day. She was so entertaining. Anyways…a few pictures from the parade:

Then it was off to meet Tiana and Naveen! I don’t think they were starting their meet and greets until later but there were already people waiting when we got to the bridge. I didn’t want to miss out like I did in April so we decided to (well, I decided to…) just wait. It was only going to be about 15 minutes anyway plus it was nice to get out of the sun for a while. As we were waiting we were entertained by the kids in line. There was one little girl who must’ve just come from BBB because she was all decked out in her Tiana dress. So cute! Before long Tiana and Naveen were on their way out! I thought it was a nice touch too how they played jazz music to help set the mood.

Once they were out I think we ended up waiting about 15 more minutes before it was our turn. It was fun watching everyone else though because Tiana and Naveen were so in character and just interacting with all the guests. We couldn’t wait to see what they had to say to us. There was a photopass photographer there but we also gave one of our cameras to the attendant so we could get another picture. We all said hello and then they asked us our names. Tiana and Naveen introduced themselves and said it was nice to meet us. Hehe They also asked us where we were from and when we said Wisconsin, I should’ve known what was coming next. Before I tell you, let me ask you…what is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Wisconsin?

How many of you thought of cheese? Well, apparently that is what Naveen thinks of because then of course he asked us if we like cheese! Seriously I think they must train characters/CMs to talk about cheese if they meet a Wisconsinite. I don’t know how many times we’ve had similar conversations with other CMs. Even the Canadian Santa asked us about it on one of our holiday trips. Come on people, there is more to Wisconsin than CHEESE!

OK now I sound like I’m getting angry which really I’m not. The whole conversation was actually kind of amusing because after Naveen mentioned cheese, he and Tiana went back and forth naming different kinds of cheese. American. Swiss. Gouda. Cheddar. String. It was then that I think Naveen ran out of ideas because he said something about unstringed cheese to which Tiana said there was no such thing. Haha

Here they are discussing as we look on. I love how the character attendant took this.

tiana2.jpg

Now that the whole cheese thing was out of the way, Naveen asked us if we had ever heard of Maldonia, which is where he is from. Since I’ve seen the movie I said yes. He asked if I knew where it was, which I didn’t ;) but I did learn from Tiana that you can get there by hopping across lilypads or by riding on the back of an alligator. :)

After our lovely conversation we posed for our picture. I think it turned out pretty cute!

tiana.jpg

We said good-bye and thank you before continuing on our way. Such a fun meet and I am so glad we waited. I especially enjoyed Naveen because he talked exactly like he does in the movie (kind of self-absorbed at times) and he had his mannerisms down—he would change his pose/facial expression for every single picture which was hilarious. That was definitely one of my favorite parts of our trip!

Up next: Did we get to use our Space Mountain fastpasses?

Monday, August 9, 2010 cont'd (part 4)

Hoping that it was up and running again, we went back to Tomorrowland to see if we could use our fastpasses. Was it working? YES! Woo hoo! So we showed the CM our fastpasses and were on our way inside. It was a little bit strange doing SM at that time since it’s usually the first thing we do after park opening but whatever. I was just glad it was operating so we could complete our triple mountain whammy. We pretty much walked right up to the loading area before we had to wait. We were placed in a row fairly quickly. Right in front of us was a group of some young boys and their dads. The boy in front of me was jumping up and down. I thought to myself he must be really excited! Ummm…not so much. I suppose maybe he could have been but turns out he had to go to the bathroom! So much so that he was practically on the verge of tears. And all his dad said was “you’re not going to the bathroom” and then before they got on their rocket made the boy give him a thumbs up. Emma and I kept looking at each other. I was half expecting the ride to shut down again because this kid had an accident!

Normally I love Space Mountain—it’s one of my favorite rides but that time it was almost painful. I don’t know if it was because of the sun/heat but I had SUCH a pounding headache that every time we’d turn or drop my head was practically throbbing. That was not fun. On the bright side atleast we got to use the fastpasses!

After we got off I looked around for any sign of that boy…I wonder if he ended up making it to the bathroom. Poor kid.

Because of my headache, it was a good time to go grab some lunch. It was a little later than we’d normally go (you get pretty hungry early when you’re up for rope drop!) so Cosmic Ray’s was pretty busy. Luckily we were able to find a table where we got to enjoy Sunny Eclipse perform. It was nice to be in the air conditioning for a while. Emma and I got hamburgers and I think Claire got a chicken sandwich. Yum. We also discussed our plans for after lunch. We had covered pretty many rides in those few hours but Claire wanted to see the Monsters Inc. show so that was our next and final stop. Not to mention the skies were starting to get dark like it might rain again...

40324_1394060263960_1605780003_31167640_2683233_n.jpg

I have to share another interesting picture Emma took. This is what is so cool about her...she is always lagging behind but then she gets these unique pictures! I would never think to take something like this!

40536_1394060383963_1605780003_31167641_1519170_n.jpg

When we got to the Laugh Floor, we just missed out on getting into the first show so we had to wait a few minutes before getting into the monster world.

44283_654537310024_20305212_37455411_6890813_n.jpg

Finally the doors opened up again.
46977_654537524594_20305212_37455416_7806220_n.jpg

It was pretty funny because when we got in the theater, we were pretty much right in the middle and on one of the aisles. I think I am one of the few people who doesn’t want to ever get up there so I told Emma I was afraid I was going to be shown on the screen. She told me we wouldn’t. Well, guess who was up there right at the beginning when they show people in the audience and then put those captions underneath like “will buy everyone churros”? No, not me, but Emma! HAHAHA. It said she “still lives with her monster-in-law.” And we weren’t going to get up there…

Even though the show is more designed for kids (maybe?) we still get a kick out of it. Some of the people who get picked on are hilarious. Take, for example, Donna. The show was going along nicely when one of the monsters chooses this lady to participate in his act. Donna was an older lady and I don’t think she really had any idea what was going on. She appeared up on the screen and was just kind of looking around (everywhere but at the screen) until finally her son says, “Mom, that’s you!” This was the monster who tells a guest to choose a number and he will magically be able to guess it. He started asking her questions about her number and such but her answers made no sense at all. Maybe one of my sisters can help tell the story better since I can’t seem to remember but everyone was cracking up. Overall it was a great show. Part of what makes it so fun is that every time it’s different.

By that time we were ready to go. Some more awesome shots by my sister. If only the sun were shining I might be tempted to get an enlarged version of this. So pretty!

On our way out we stopped in the Emporium and I also stopped at Guest Relations to pick up the “Just Engaged” buttons for Rachel and her fiance Howard (aka Weird). Yes Rachel, you get another shout-out in my TR! Hope you guys are enjoying your buttons. :)

Up next: A quick stop at Epcot

Nice updates. Sounds like a fun meet-and-greet with Tiana and Naveen. I think the only things most people down here know about Wisconsin is cheese and the Packers, and since it would be a little out of character for most of the characters to bring up football, I guess they stick with cheese. It does work for Tiana and Naveen though since they're in the restaurant business.

How cool that Emma got picked for Monsters Inc. It's a fun little show, though I'm with you- I'm always afraid that I'll be picked for it.

Great update! I was on a mission a month or two ago to find "Celebrate You" by Corbin Bleu to put on my Ipod and for some reason I couldn't find it! Then you just mentioned it so I looked on Itunes and it's there so I have to download it! I love that song! :cool1:

The parade looks cute! Tiana and Naveen sound like fun, I think I'm going to try to meet them in November! I really love Tiana's dress!

I'm happy you finally got to ride Space Mountain! :) And those castle pictures are beautiful! :lovestruc

I loved your meet with Tianna and Naveen. I totally want to meet them, but since it was just my boys this last trip they had zero interest. Hopefully sometime soon I can talk my DD into meeting them with me. I like Monsters Inc too. We've had some great people get picked, especially to be "that guy."
