My family is going in May and we have three rooms that are linked together. We have an 8 night reservation booked with the Disney Dining plan. What I'm trying to find out is:
1- will all our entitlements be totaled together on our Magic Bands 48 ts / 48 qs / 48 snacks or 16 ts / 16 qs / 16 snacks
2- when we all eat a sit down meal together can one person have their bands scanned for the six meals or does one person from each room have to have their band scanned?

if anyone knows the answer I would greatly appreciated it

Each room will have the credits bundled together. You will need to have one band from each room scanned at the table service meals. You can then have the tip split between the rooms or all on one of the checks (there will be three checks-one for each band). We had two rooms, so we had a band from each room scanned when we did TS but had all the tip placed on our check (which we then just charged to our room). You will always receive a check/receipt for every meal purchased (your check will show the cost of the meal then show that you used a DDP credit to pay for the meal).

At QS spots, just have whoever is eating scan their band, or have one person from each room order for those staying in the room.

It's easier than it sounds because the Cast Members are very good about asking how many credits you are using or how many meals you are paying for on each band. I thought it would be confusing, but it worked out for us. Each receipt will show how many credits were used and how many TOTAL are remaining for each room.

It worked out really well for our party of 5. There were 2 in the party that almost always got their own meal and three of us who tended to split meals (and we were in both rooms). We would just take turns paying for the split meal and tried to keep things even. You can split meals anywhere it isn't buffet or family style, or Villa Napoli.

By splitting meals, we were able to eat 3 meals a day on most days! We even had snack credits left over for snacks to take home. It was a great deal for us and nice to not worry about the cost of anything. Everyone got to eat what they wanted, when they wanted!

Take advantage of the drink/dessert swaps if you split meals (and even if you don't). You can trade a drink or dessert for any snack/side item. So when we split a meal we'd get the meal and two desserts (or two sides) and we each got one. We usually just drank water with the meals we didn't get at the resorts (we used the Rapid Refill cups for drinks at the resorts).

Ladyfish gave a great summary. I just wanted to comment that your scenario is what we do almost every time. To be honest, I think that Disney falls short here. We are FAMILY traveling together, eating together, staying together. I am the main planner, reserver, tipper, payer. Yet, there have to be three separate reservations and three separate Dining plan groupings. It would be so much easier for us larger groups if they would allow ONE reservation for the whole thing. I guess we could always book a Grand Villa and make that happen, but they are not available for the free dining promos, which we always take advantage of. I end up having everyone give me receipts each night. A bit of a pain . . .
