Just back from 3 quick nights at POR for my extravagant birthday trip.
We didn't get a king bed room in the mansions, despite the request. Our late arrival and my listening to advice from TourguideMike about not faxing requests may have had something to do with this. We ended up in Building 28, which for tired people from CT was impossible to find. In the am it seemed much clearer. This is a bit of a walk to the food court--about 7 to 8 minutes, and closer to the smaller bridge to Old Man Island. The king size bed was nice for the two of us.
We requested a coffeemaker. Housekeeping delivered us a maker, several plastic cups and no coffee! I checked with the front desk in person and they said they charge $1.28 a package. I ordered two, and was never charged. By the way, the coffee was terrible until I ran the water through my Brita filter first.
I had requested a refrigerator for my insulin, which didn't arrive until I called housekeeping. The person said that they don't deliver until the guest is physically in the room. This varies from my experience at deluxes. Have to say, all our requests from housekeeping were very promptly met (much better than our experiences at deluxes!).
Had a lovely carriage ride on Sunday (during Superbowl 2nd quarter--DH must really love me) with Becky and Ike. The route goes over Ol' Man Island and by the mansions returning to the marina after traveling about 1/2 way to FQ. There was a sign on Ol' Man Island about the campfire at 6:30, but other than smelling fragrant wood smoke, I have no info.
The hot tub was very nice, and the pool felt good too.
We didn't bring any stuffed animals, but housekeeping made us a Minnie Mouse with towels and coaster one day!
We didn't eat at the food court, just got cocoa and soda.
Questions? I'll do my best.
