My sister and I are going for a long weekend and will be staying 3 nights. We plan to do parks in the mornings take an afternoon break and go back in the evenings.

We were thinking of trying 3 different resorts, one night at each. Right now I have us booked our arrival night at WL then moving to YC for the last two nights. I was thinking of changing that middle night to the GF or Poly.

Has anyone ever done this? Is is crazy to move each night? We think we would like to experience a few different resorts but I'm worried about maybe not having a room to go back to and relax.

Thoughts anyone?

Have you ever done a split stay before? If you have and know what it's like, then go for it. Might be fun.If not, I would not recommend. There's a lot to be said for settling into your room, especially for a shorter trip.

I don't think that you will have enough time to enjoy each resort. You will have to check out by 11 AM each morning and arrange to forward your bags to the next resort. You may not have a room available until 3 PM or later, which gives you no place for an afternoon break if that happens. If you had bell services transport your bags to the next resort, they will be delivered to resort #2 (or #3) at some time in the afternoon. Personally, I wouldn't even attempt a split stay on anything less than 4 nights and that would only be if I was arriving late for the first night and didn't want to pay deluxe prices for just a bed and bath.

To me- not worth the hassle and I love split stays. But we check carefully for bedbugs, and wipe down everything with antibacterial wipes.....In your case, since you are planning to go back to the resort in the afternoon, it might be risky as your room may not be ready.

Would not do any split for a 3 day stay. Esp if you plan on mid day breaks. Who knows when luggage will arrive or when room will be ready. I've had to wait until 5pm on one occasion for room to be ready. And another time our room wasn't ready by 3:00 either.

For a 3-night trip, I would not do a split stay, nevermind a 3-way split stay. Check out is at 11:00 am and the official check in time is 3:00 pm; you'll be "homeless" for a portion of each day with no resort room to go back to if you needed to. You may get lucky and they'll have a room available early, but you can't count on that. It just seems to be too big of a hassle for such a short trip. I think it'd be much more relaxing to check in once, get settled once, and visit the other resorts if you so desire.

I would not do this for such a short trip. You really need a minimum of 2 days at a resort. Check in is 3, check out is 11am. That is only 15 hours if you book for the one night. Personally we don't split at any resort for under 3 nights. Typically if we split it is 4 and 3 or more.

It seems like a "that'd be fun" idea on on paper but when it comes time it wouldn't be. Would be a nightmare if you used Disney's luggage transfer. During my split stay last year I didn't get my bags until after 5PM. It's also very annoying unpacking then having to repack in about 12 hours time. Split stays are fun, but I will never do a single night one again.

I've done them - mostly for budget reasons. Last March, we covered 5 hotels in 7 nights - a record, even for us! (We like to stay where we are at rather than traveling back and forth).

For that trip, we had 2 nights onsite at RPR in Universal, one night offsite near Uni, then onsite at Disney for 2 nights, then offsite at Disney Springs for 1 night, followed by a final night for some R&R at Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress.

I packed carefully. Everything was on hangers laid flat in my suitcase in order by day (so the next day's clothes were the top layer). Unpacking took just a couple of mins - toiletry bag in bathroom, jammies out, and clothes for the next day hung in the closet. Packing was just as simple.

My whole family agreed it went very smoothly and the multiple transfers (mostly via uber) went well. Yours will be even easier since Disney will transfer your luggage for you.

I would recommend writing out a rough map of your day and seeing if u like how it looks and whether being "homeless"/without your bags each afternoon will affect the trip u want.

If u want an afternoon break each day and time to enjoy the resort's amenities, a 3 way split may not be the best idea for u.

There is no way I would fine that enjoyable. In my opinion, you will end up not enjoying the amenities of any resort you go to.

Agree with Marionnette, you won't have any place to go to for that afternoon break each day.

We LOVE split stays and so we try to split most visits at least once. That said, I wouldn't do a three way split in three days unless it was the only way to stay at WDW. Being 'homeless' for about 4 hours per day is one issue and taking the time to pack and unpack and check the rooms for bedbugs is another issue. However, for me, the biggest reason against it would be the lack of time to actually enjoy each resort. We typically try for at least 3 nights at each resort because it takes about that long for us to take advantage of the amenities of the resort while taking some time for the theme parks. With a stay of 20 hours, more or less, at each resort, you have about 9 hours sleep and shower time reducing you available time to 11 hours. Then you have time at the theme parks which can literally take most of that time along with transportation. If you go back for a break in the afternoon (possibly without a room or easy access to your luggage) for a couple of hours you will have little better access to the resort than if you just took a break and visited that resort. True, you won't be able to swim at the pool when visiting, but swimming at your own pool while staying at a single resort for three days would be just as much fun minus the hassle of always moving.

JMHO, of course. If you do decide to split the stay, I would request late check out and early check in as my only requests at each resort. Perhaps you will get lucky and minimize the 'homeless' period to next to nothing.

Good luck! And enjoy your trip!

So, every morning you will be packing up and having to deal with bell services to transfer your bags (which may not be available at the next resort until late afternoon) and risk spending your afternoon breaks in hotel lobbies. No way would I do it. You really couldn't even plan on swimming at any of the resorts (if you were hoping to), as you may not have access to your bags or a room until late afternoon. When doing splits, we never spend less than 3 nights at a resort. Otherwise we never have a chance to actually enjoy the resort.

I would agree with everyone else. I would only do this if I didn't have park tickets, and my goal for the 3 day weekend was to experience the resorts only.

does sound like fun! but only if I had the time to take care of everything :) I think I'd feel stressed and rushed if I was spending time at the parks too

Not sure I'd do the 3 split but certainly would do the two split you have booked right now. All the resorts you've listed are great and it would be a shame not to experience them. I'm not sure I'd pay deluxe prices to only sleep in the room. I love split stays and always do the first two nights at a moderate then move over to a deluxe but a different resort every night, combined with all three of them being deluxe might be stretching it.

My thoughts exactly about paying deluxe prices for such a short time in the room.

We are doing two resorts for this coming 3 night trip. I am not happy but by the time I booked (we are DVC) I couldn't get 3 nights in the same place. I definitely would not move 3 times especially if you want to try new places AND go to the parks.

did this once. NEVER AGAIN. it was awful. Having to clean out the room every morning, call the Bell desk and have the luggage transferred over, go to the park, come back and call up for the luggage and do it all over again. By the end of the trip we were absolutely exhausted. I can't stress enough how much of a bad idea this is.
