I've been toosing and turning all night and thinking about my new trip in September. Anyway an idea of asking my Mother and my Aunt to come along and enjoy WDW.

But we wouldn't really want to be all in one room. I'd like a roll in shower and my Mom uses an ECV but doesn't need the roll in shower. Would this situation fit the ADA comped room? I was thinking of staying at the Wilderness Lodge if it did.

So do they comp for 3 or is it only for parties of 4?

I went last Oct with my sister and niece. They had a regular room with 2 double beds, I had the king room with the roll in shower. Their room was comped. We stayed at POP Century.

They are moving away from the comp rooms, by adding extra beds to the accessible rooms, too many people were taking advatage of the system. It is a tight fit in these rooms, but there are beds for 4 (or 5 with a roll away in some cases even though this makes it nearly impossible for a wheelchair to move around) Itis very doubtful you would get an extra room for 3 people. I would never expect an extra free room for my family of 5.

Thanks for the info 4GBLC.

samjk, Yeo I understand thier viewpoint and I even agree for alot of it. But I'm thinking my situation might warrent my requesting the comp room for the first time. Having a wheelchair and an ECV in the room with a roll in shower will make it almost impossible to get around the room with 2 beds or a bed and a roll away. I can't walk or even stand at all so if there isn't enough room to manuver a wheelchair I can't move inside the room. Also the only place I can get dressed and undressed is by lying down on the bed. Getting dressed in the bathroom requires me to lay down on the floor and getting back into the wheelchair afterward is either extremely hard or impossible depending on what I can hold onto in the room plus the floor tends to be abit too wet to roll around on due to the open shower. So imagine sharing a room with your opposite sex Mother and Aunt and having to change in the same room as them.

So really all I'm asking for are things that a non wheelchair user would be able to have. Enough space to actually move from one end of the room to the other and a spot to get dressed that is private.

Point taken. All you can do is ask.

My daugther uses a wheelchair, so I understand the difficulties involved with wheelchair use.

Wilderness Lodge accessible rooms are not accessible to me. The bathroom is split and there wasn't enough room to get my chair ( which is an adult narrow size) in there. They ended up moving us to another resort once we were there- a process that took an entire afternoon. I couldn't ever recommend WL to someone in a w/c. ---Kathy

OK I just booked a room at Wilderness Lodge for a roll in shower and enough space for someone using a wheelchair and someone using an ECV.

I stressed that I would need 2 rooms and the only thing they would reply to that with was that they would make sure we were comfortable. However I couldn't get her to say that we would be in 2 rooms. I asked the CM if I should keep this reservation at Wilderness Lodge knowing that I didn't think 1 room would work for us or should I book 2 rooms at Pop Century and she said I should keep the Wilderness Lodge reservation. At the end I asked her if she thought the room reservation would work out well for us and she said that it would be fine.

So is thier policy to not confirm the second room in these situations but to give you 2 rooms anyway?

The second room won't show up on your confirmation so don't worry when you don't see it.

People read these boards who may not need special accomodations but do abuse the reservations system/room situation by requesting in such a way to get a comp room. This is why DRC will not confirm what accomodations they are going to make for you. This is also why they are now changing out the bedding types so a comp room is no longer necessary. Meanwhile those of us who do need such accomodations are only trying to fit in a room and maneuver like everyone else and not trying to scam Disney,...but again there are plenty of people who will. This is why it's not a good idea to bring up "comp rooms" on these boards. ---Kathy

Whenever I made my last reservation I was concern because my dd carries so much extra stuff ( bathchair, extra things for her chair ) they never said anything about a comped room, just said we would be comfortable, I was so worryed , when we checked in we did indeed have a comped room. Don't stress, they will know when they see you. The CM told me they are not allowed to let a person know they have a comped room, that's policy now, they can just asure you that you will be " comfortable".
