3 Disney employees arrested??

Has anyone heard the details of this story? I'm wondering what the circumstances were and if the 3 people really were Disney employees.

ORLANDO, Fla. - A weeklong sting operation led to the arrests of 28 men, three who claimed to be Disney employees, on charges of soliciting sex from a minor, authorities said.

"The suspects chatted online with (people) whom they believed to be boys and girls, ages 13 and 14," Polk County Sheriff's spokeswoman Donna Wood.

She said a number of agencies worked together to set up the sting at a Polk County home, where the suspects were arrested through Sunday.

Three of the arrested men told authorities they were employees of Disney, which operates theme parks in the area, according to the sheriff's report. All three were charged with soliciting a minor via the Internet and attempted lewd battery. One also was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

"We take allegations of this nature seriously," Disney spokeswoman Zoraya Suarez said in an e-mail. "When we receive confirmation of these allegations, we will take appropriate action."

Saw that on CNN.com earlier, so I take it it's true. I'm not all that shocked, really. Disney has how many employees? Sure...they do background checks, but if they've never been caught nothing will show up. Yes, Disney is magical but that won't keep out the sickos.

I am not surprised at all. I've known of other employees where there have been issues, Disney has like 60K employees. It's not Disney's fault - it's just so many CM's, and Disney can't keep track of each one 24/7.

No matter where you are, it's important to keep track of your kids.

Well, I'm not exactly shocked either. On the travel channel yesterday for the MK show they were saying that Disney is the largest on-site employer in the US, so there are bound to be a few bad eggs in the crew. It's just that I hate to hear Disney getting the bad press...seems the only ones they were reporting were the guys that worked for Disney. I didn't hear them mention the employers for the other 20+ people involved.

Like a previous poster said, you can be the biggest criminal in the world but if you've never been caught you don't have a record and any background check will come back completely clean.

That's actually an excellent point. For some reason, people think Disney should be immune to this sort of thing...but they are a business, just like any other.

OK, maybe its just me but I'm actually MORE careful with my kids at amusement parks than anywhere else. Why? Because amusement parks are geared for kids and if someone is looking for a kid than what place on earth is better? ESPECIALLY since so many people WANT to believe it is magic.

I agree with the PP about keeping an extra close eye on our kids at Disney. Luckily, our kids are not the type to wander off and they will still hold hands, even DS8.5. It's just common sense that since Disney is full of kids, these types of sickos may target it.
