We were very fortunate to snag a last minute reservation at Fort Wilderness. We will be arriving the evening of December 20th and leaving very early on the 24th. We could either golf cart stroll, tour Disney Springs and resorts in the morning and head over to MVMCP at 4:00 OR spend the day at HS or AK then do MK on the 22nd or 23rd. We want to hit those three parks.

Based on the Disney calendar, it looks like the parade and frozen castle lighting is on the 22nd and 23rd as well. We really want to see these.

So we could either do three whole park days or two and the party.

opinions?

The cost of a full park day is roughly the same as the party ticket for 12/21.

It really depends on if you want to be in the park with 35,000 of your closest friends for the Christmas events during the party, or, be in the park with upwards of at least double the party size - probably more - on the 22nd or 23rd.

Because the parade is a must-do, it would be easier to find viewing spots during the party.

No matter how you slice it, MK is going to be crowded. While hiroMYhero has a great point regarding the amount of people in MK during a party vs. a regular day, I'm tempted to suggest you go during a regular day as you can still see the parade and castle lighting and you will get 7 more hours of park time.

If you're okay not doing as many attractions in MK, I vote for the party.

I think it's nice to have some extra time to experience the resorts and Disney Springs. I'd definitely walk over to Wilderness Lodge and visit the monorail loop resorts as well. The holiday decorations there really put you in the Christmas spirit! Maybe grab a drink or snack to enjoy at your favorite counter-service location or lounge. Following up a day like that with the Christmas party would be just about perfect in my book. :-)

Can't go wrong either way, though!

I would suggest that if you want the party, you might want to get your ticket sooner rather than later.

For a perspective, about 10 years ago we were in WDW through the Sunday before Christmas, which was on Wednesday, I believe. I wanted very much to go to MGM....yup, it was a long time ago, for the Osborne Lights, and then the Fam wanted to head back to the MK after that. This was on the Saturday night. Holy Crowded!! The MK is tight on a good day, but I had never been shoulder to shoulder to shoulder before, not like that. The parties had ended the night before and MK was in full Christmas mode, parade, snow, Christmas Wishes. We had a stroller for my peanut of a DGD, mostly to keep her from getting swept away, but DSIL ended up carrying her for a good space of that time.
