Anyone doing one of these? We're booked but I've gotten paranoid that no one is doing it and it will be cancelled and I will be left without a hotel!

Find out the cancellation policy for your add-on. When I did the add-on that goes actually during the Med cruise, the policy was that they would not cancel the add-on after paid in full date for the cruise. Once you know past what point they won't cancel, book yourself a hotel room (just don't do a non-refundable booking!) When you get past that guaranteed no-cancel date for the ABD, then you can cancel the hotel room with no penalty. If by some chance they do cancel (but I haven't heard of that happening) you'll have a reservation. Most hotel reservations, unless they are totally non-refundable, can be cancelled up until pretty close to your trip.

Just found out the ABD add-on has 41 people booked and is sold out so its a go and I don't need to worry.

The one other ABD we have done which was to Ireland in 2009, there were only 26 people, so I hope 41 won't feel too crowded.

I'm super happy now.

Yay! Congrats. :thumbsup2

My first 2 ABD's had 14 and 15 people on them. Then my third was the ABD Med cruise add-on with 39 people. I was worried about that, also, but it was fine. Bathroom breaks took a little longer, but other than that, it didn't feel crowded. There were still way less of us than the motorcoaches could hold, and the Adventure Guides managed the whole group of us expertly!

Thanks for the feedback. I'm hoping that not all the folks doing the precruise add-on will do the med cruise one as well, so that we will have a group of friends to hang out with on the cruise!

I didn't know Disney offers add-on until now. I should keep it in mind for my next cruise planning. Thanks for the info!

Currently, the only ABD add-ons DCL is doing are for the Med cruises. There *was* one offered for the Alaska cruises, but ABD just recently cancelled them because of lack of interest. :(

Our ABD add-on in Vancouver was cancelled 2 summers ago, and I was so disappointed! Turned out ok, though, in the long run. We had a great 3 day pre-stay on our own in Vancouver and booked some similar tours that ABD was planning (to Grouse Mountain, the bridges, etc.) Then, we had a really awesome time seeing Alaska on the Wonder. I want to say we found out in March or April that it was cancelled for our July trip.

Nuts. Perhaps I should book something before the cruise just in case!

Was this after your PIF date?

You know what? I think it was in late Feb or March that we found out. We sailed at the end of July, and I think it was right before the PIF date if memory serves. Only issue was, we already had booked airfare (not through DCL nor ABD), so we had to quickly find a hotel for our pre-stay. Not that big of a deal, actually, but I could see it being a problem in certain cities or busier times. We just went ahead with the pre-stay on our own. If any of you are sailing out of Vancouver, you MUST spend some time in that city before your cruise, because it was really amazing!

It probably wouldn't hurt to have a (refundable!) backup plan. But from what I've heard, the Med add-ons sell way better than the Alaska ones did.

I just booked a refundable back-up plan at the same place I have post-cruise. It's so much cheaper that if DCL doesn't confirm this with me to my satisfaction, I may end up just cancelling! I don't want to wait until after the PIF date to know its cancelled and the fine print says that DCL can cancel any time it wants until the last minute. If I start planning and organizing transfers and stuff just in case, it defeats the purpose of paying crazy money for this ABD and I'm going to just end up doing it on my own. That's what happened with my post-stay when they screwed that up.

Grrr.
