3 Day Cruises, Do they seem long enough?

I had not even thought of it that way I would like to leave on a late as possible Wednesday night flight and return evening on Sunday. It is really hard to find something that is fiting that

The Carnival Sensation sails out of Port Canaveral Thurs - Sun. You get a day in Nassau and a sea day. You get back Sun morning, so plenty of time to fly back home. My first cruise was on the Sensation last October; I did the Sun-Thurs cruise, though 9you get an day in Freeport also on that one).

The Sensation is not as fancy as the big, newer ships, but I really enjoyed it.

I agree, we went in Feb. Booked an excursion and NO ONE would get in the water. This is when I decided I would never pre-pay again. The water was freezing.

In a word...No. We have done one 3 day, one 4 day, two 5 days, and 2 seven days. But (everyone has a big but right?) if you have never done a cruise, a three day is a nice way to try it out. Most cruises don't sail until 4 or 5 PM but you do have the afternoon on the ship after you board. Then you'll have 2 full days onboard (port days, sea day/port day) then you get off the ship bright an early the last morning. It's really more like 2 1/2 days. We just feel like as soon as we've unpacked it's time to pack again. We did the three day with friends who weren't sure they'd enjoy cruising (they did) so they didn't want to be trapped on a long trip (they hated to leave).

You are right about the three night cruises being really convenient for not taking time off work. But if you have even a little flexibility, you might score a 5 night for under $1000 total.

I hope you decide to take the plunge. We have never regretted catching the cruising bug. It's a wonderful way to travel.

I agree with most on this board, the three day is just not long enough to get an accurate feel. There is just too much that DCL has to offer to not at least take the 4 day cruise. The bahamas are just OK, but really if you are not able to do the week, then use the 4 day (really only 3 full days) to explore the ship, experience the awesome cuisine and entertainment. You will not be bored and the 4 day will leave you wanting to go again without frustrating you as I believe 3 day would. Good luck!

you could check out cheapcaribbean.com or travelzoo.com they have great last minute [6-8 weeks out] all-inclusive with air for <$500 per person 4-7 night....since your goal is $1k that would be good.

I just need to pick a warm destination! I am looking for 4 days now.

Anyone have motion sickness? Vertigo? I have both , could not ride the Tea Cups, Dumbo, and the 3D shows like StarTraK and Soarin made me ill I watched the floors and closed my eyes thru most of it (the things you do for your kids ) Im wondering how a ship is? I have meds I take for my vertigo that help. Ive read different things some people are different some never feel movement ect.

I have to agree - the longer the better. We just got back from back to back cruises on the Dream. We did the 9/8 and 9/11 sailings in the same cabin. Even being on the ship 7 nights was too short for us!

You want to be on the ship long enough to enjoy the ship itself and not just the ports.

I would avoid cruising the older ships - especially the Carnival ones on shorter cruises. My friend just got back from the Sensation and said the crowd seemed to be more of a party crowd and the whole ship stunk like cigarettes since they allow smoking on so much of the ship. Also, since the ship is older, it doesn't have the most modern technology to keep the ship as steady so there is much more pitch and roll which may affect some people that are prone to motion sickness.

I would go with a travel agent that is offering a shipboard credit as those seem to be the best deals.

I know theres cruises down to Mexico and I know a cruise will not take us straight to a battlefield.... BUT I am very leary of Mexico!! Decapitated heads being found in front of schools and bodys in the road Anywhere else to head besides the Bahamas then? =/ under 80 degrees and I am disappointed I want to lay in the sun while people back home in Indiana are freezing in knee deep snow!? LOL bragging rights of vacation

Can you fly further South to get on the ship? Somewhere like Miami or even Puerto Rico? If you do then you may be able to find a Caribbean cruise for your time frame.
