My DH, DD8 & I have invited my BIL & SIL and their 3 kids (8, 6, 2) to join us for an early October trip to the World. They have never been! We own at Vistana in the Fountains section, and unfortunately, they do not have any 3 BR units available for the week we'd like. The 2BR/2BA unit would be too crowded, I think. It has 1 King, 2 DBL, and 1 Sleeper. That would put one adult couple in the LR and I don't want to do that.

I was offered a 3 BR at Cypress Pointe. It seems like there are mixed reviews of this property. Some people mention a strange thing with no doors to the bathrooms? I don't understand that...

Anyway, does anyone know of a nice timeshare resort w/in comparable distance to the Vistana or CP that offers 3 BR units? I am going to hold the CP unit but I can change it for a nominal fee.

Thanks in advance.

we stayed in a 2 bedroom Phase 2 at Sunterra Cypress pointe Grande Villas and thought they were very nice.we were there only one night before going to OKW but could not have been happier anywhere else.you know i cannot even remember if there was a door in the master bathroom from the master bedroom or not,but there was one for the shower, toilet area.all i know is the master bathroom was huge.

we really loved Cypress Pointe and will definetly stay there again.we were told that Phase 2 was the newer units, so you may want to request that area.

Some other timeshares with 3BR:

Summer Bay
Silver Lake
Embassy
Sunterra Grand Beach
Orange Lake
Hilton

We have stayed at Cypress Pointe a few times and had no complaints, the location is great. The bathroom thing is in the lockout side of the 3BR and the tub is in between the bed and bathroom area having just a curtain for privacy. The toilet is not like that.

We just recently stayted at Orange Lake in a 3 bedroom unit. It had king size bed in 1 room, 2 queen size beds in another and the 3rd had a queen size bed plus couch that opened into a bed. The master bedroom had its own bath with jacuzzi tub. Middle bedroom had a bathroom right outside it with a pocket door to the hall, so if you closed that off it was very private. 3rd bedroom also had its own bath within the room. No tubs in the unit other than the jacuzzi.

At cypress point in the newer section there are 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. One BR has 2 twins. Bring an air mattress?? The bathroom next to it is standard. It has a door that opens near the living room/dining room.

The master bedroom has a king bed. There is a huge bathtub which is open to that room, if I remember correctly. You can also see the sink area from the bed. The toilet & shower are private, with a door.

The lockout has a small kitchen/living area. The bedroom has a door, but there is also a window (with a shade) between the LR & BR, because there is no window in the LR. The bedroom has a queen bed, TV, soaking tub & double sinks. The toilet is in it's own room with a door, but I think the shower just has a glass door. It's in the back of the room, but if a couple was sharing this bathroom with someone sleeping on the lock off sofa, it could be cozy!

I am not sure if the lock off sofa is a bed or not.

I found that our unit was exactly like the one they have on the internet:

http://www.sunterra.com/resorts/regions/resort.asp?resort_code=CPV&region=Florida

click on virtual tour. The newer section is the grand villas.

Our group was smaller than yours. MIL & SIL shared the king bed, my niece & nephew shared the room with the twin beds & DH & I had the whole lockoff unit to ourselves! Worked out very well for us, as we could close the door between the two sides for some privacy. The extra fridge also kept the teens from eating our food. :)

Hope that helps a bit! :)

Bring an air mattress??

We are told that the unit (which is not in the Grand Villas, but the other section) has 2 Kings, 2 Twins, and a sofa bed. We are planning to put 2 kids in the Twins and 2 on the sofa bed (if the 2 yo is not still in a porta-crib).

Also, I am told that this is not a lock-out unit, but a real 3 BR. Anyone ever stayed in one of these?

I ended up confirming it today, figuring I would check back from time to time to see if Orange Lake or Marriott open up. They told me at RCI that there are very few "true" 3 BRs - most are lock-outs - so they are harder to get. When people trade, they tend to trade one of the lock-outs, not both.

Thanks everyone!

i just went under the website and the 3 bedroom did look like it had 2 king and 2 twins.

All of the pictures on the website are of phase II, even if it says they're not! That section has a king, queen sofa bed & 2 twins in the 2 BR. The 3rd BR lockout part has a queen, not a king. I'm sure of that!

The website also says the phase I 3 BR has king, queen, 2 twins & a sofa bed. I don't know who is right, but I'd say probably not the website. :)

I have heard that the older section was recently redone & is very nice! I'm sure it will be fine for your group.

The 3 bdr lockout we stayed in at Cypress POint phase 1 had a king in the lockout unit. For some reason I think there was a trundle under 1 of the twins. Could be wrong about the trundle but sure about the king. Also there are no windows in the twin bdrm. Nice unit and very clean but you tell it was a little run down.
The people were very nice and very accomadating. I'm sure you will enjoy your stay.

Since I was about as confused as a girl could be, I called RCI since they handle most of the exchanges for CP. They told me that there are many varieties of units, but that ours would definitely have 2 Kings, 2 Twins, and at least one sleeper. My SIL says that the 2yo will still be in a crib in October, so we'll have no bedding problems regardless.

My only remaining concern is that I can use the bathroom in private. I don't care about the tub or shower or sink, just the toilet area.

I had also heard that the resort was getting a lot of facelifting. Sunterra is apparently quite partular about its brand, so the units have to meet certain expectations. This will be our in-laws first WDW trip ever so we want to make it as nice as possible for them.

do not worry about the toilet area, there is a door for the toilet and shower area.

In the 3bdrm lockout we stayed in there was only 1 bathroom that had a door. The master bath did not have a door. You had to close the door to the bdrm if you wanted privacy. Same as the lockout. I guess 1 is better than none.

Please clarify. Do you mean to say that the toilet was in the bedroom? That's disgusting.

There is a little wall that divides the toilet from someone seeing you if they would walk into the bedroom. But no door to close to stop them from seeing you if they would walk into the bathrrom. There is nothing dividing the bathtubs. They are in veiw when you walk into the bedroom. I hope this explains it.

I'm pretty sure the master bathroom (not the lockoff) had a door to the toilet & shower room. I'll double check with my SIL. She shared this room with MIL & I think that's something they would remember!!

But all of this is for phase II, so it's irrelevant. :)

I am sorry if I am being dense. What I am imagining is like an alcove with a toilet and no door on that alcove. Is that correct? Some posters have said that the bathtub is out in the open. I don't care about that. What I care about is that I can use the bathroom in privacy. To be tactful about this, I have a medical problem that causes me trouble in that area. I cannot "go" if I don't have a private place. So if my DH could just walk into the room and see me sitting there, I would be in trouble. If there really is no way to close off the toilet area, I have to make other arrangements.

I am told by RCI that this is not a lock-off unit. It seems like all the comments about bathrooms are in regard to the lock-offs. Is there someone out there who has stayed in a regular 3 BR unit? I am going to call the resort tomorrow to find out what they say, but in the meantime, everyone has been very helpful, thanks so much.

Has anyone stayed at the Polynesian Isles Resort? It is also a sunterra resort. Thanks for any info.

What I described in my past post were the 3 bdrm lock out unit we stayed in, in phase 1.(see previous post). There was no door to the toilet area. If someone was to walk into the master bedroom they could not see you but if they continued walking around the the little wall divider they will see you. If you need total privacy in the bathroom, use the middle bathroom. That one has a door for total privacy. McNuss you said you are not staying in a lock out, so your unit's floorplan is probably different. Have a great trip.
