If it rains on the CC day on the 3 or 4 nt cruises and they don't dock or whatever..do they go somewhere else or hang out in port or what usually happens on days like those?

This is a "loaded question".. I say this, because recently, there were quite a few posts with some very unhappy people when their cruise could not dock...

You will usual start the trek home very slowly and the captain will sail to try and find better or nice weather... They do put out a lot of extra activities on a special navigator... More movies, games, etc...

I have been unfortunate once when we were unable to make it in....

:goodvibes

Pardon...I hadn't seen those posts otherwise I wouldn't have asked such a question. I was just wondering. Guess I wouldn't be happy either, but you can't help mother nature. DIdn't know I was opening a can of worms. Sorry.

Don't worry about it..
There are those that are still sensitive since it is fresh for them.. I was over it five minutes after it was announced, and made more than the best of it.....We decided to have our own party at the Family pool/Goofy pool!! :crazy2: :drinking1

You have the right idea, mother nature is not always friendly...Mind you today I have "spring Fever" and am giddy...forgive me.. :smooth:

One nice thing about the 4 night cruise, if they miss CC the first day they still have the last day of the cruise to try again. I hadn't thought of that until our servers pointed that out. Only the 4 day cruise offers the option to try for CC twice, so I would say the odds are better to make it there on a 4 night.

We like having the day at sea after CC on the 4 night, so that is why it is our favorite sailing. We like knowing on the day we are at CC we can just relax and not worry about going back on board to pack or get the kids to the 'farewell' show. But if we had to miss CC on day 3, I am glad we can try again on day 4.

On the 3 night cruise, if they can't make it there is no other chance. This is also true on the 7 night cruises.

Thank you for your replies! I'm just thankful to be going a a cruise, period. We're only doing the 3 night w/ 4 days at SSR. Hopefully, in the next few years we'll do a 7 nt or if not a 4 nt. When you are a SAHM, anywhere away from the home (and an hour or two to myself) would be a vacation no matter where it is! :) Happy Spring everyone!

Despite the impression some of the recent threads have made, missing CC is a really rare event, so don't give it too much thought. But it is true that weather and sea conditions can create many unexpected last minute changes. Just be prepared to roll with the waves and make the best out of being on an awesome ship.

We've missed CC twice in five cruises, once because the island had been hit by a second hurricane and in January due to strong currents. It is disspaointing, no doubt about that. How you let if affect your trip is then up to you. They do add activities and try to make the day as fun as possible.

On the last cruise I took, it was very overcast. The shipped docked and as soon as we set foot on CC it started to sprinkle. We kept going went to the beach, but, by the time lunch was served it was really raining hard. We made the best of it, but we went back to ship after we ate. So many people seemed to have the same idea. I'm not a "beach & bake" kind of person so I was not that dissappointed. If I remember correctly the ship sailed a little earlier because everyone was back on the boat all the "extra" stuff ( i.e. parasailing etc.)was cancelled.

I was just kidding about the can of worms. It seems to be a very hot topic on these boards . We are taking our 1st cruise in May 2005 (4 day). I'm a SAHM too and I get excited if I can go to the bathroom by myself for ten minutes so I'll be glad to go to CC but if for some reason we don't make it I'll be the one with the Bahama Mama on deck 9 :flower:

Life is what you make it and I'm sure we will have a blast if we have an extra at sea day and you will too :cool1:

We've only missed Castaway Cay once in 42 Disney cruises, so that should give you an idea of the odds (and we mostly sail at the "danger times," i.e. hurricane season and winter). Last time, it was a bit chilly so I stayed on board and had a blast. It was an iffy day, so they added a show matinee and lots of other activities. Believe me, there will plenty of fun things to do. I can understand the disappoint of people who have never been there before or have only been there a couple of times, as CC is definitely a highlight of the cruise. But if you miss it, it won't ruin your vacation (unless you allow it to).
