Hi Andrea & yndygo,
This is our 3rd
DCL cruise, but I am no expert by any means. Almost everything I know is in the following thread. However, I was not sharp enough to realize that it was all consolidated into one thread and spent hours researching these boards.

Here are few tips that I have come up with based on our two previous cruises.
1. Don't plan too many adult things on the assumption that your children will like the kids clubs. My children are very sociable, but only last about an hour in the club, which makes it hard to plan anything that is adult only. We do try to have dinner at Palo one night, but were only successful on the 2nd cruise and still got paged from the club toward the end of our dinner. It works better for us to just plan on doing stuff with the kids and if they want to be in the club, that's OK. Don't get me wrong, most kids love the clubs, but for some reason mine don't and I wasn't prepared for that on the first cruise.
2. If you are doing an Atlantis excursion in Nassau and your kids like to swim, book a room at either Atlantis or Comfort Suites. We booked Atlantis last time because it was only $169. Unfortunately, the rates are outrageous this time. I did get a Govt. rate at Comfort Suites for $250, which is still less than the day pass for 4 people at Atlantis for $85 per person.
3. If you don't have the extra $$ to spend on excursions in Nassau, just do a little shopping in the straw market and hang out on the ship. Beware, the straw market can be intimidating and is not clean. I would not take my kids in there, but that's just my personal preference. Also, keep in mind that my little ones are 4 and 5, I wouldn't have a problem taking my older children in the straw market. Just view it as a cultural experience.
4. The 3 night cruise is really short. I have planned too much on our previous two cruises and we have barely had the time to enjoy the ship. I am really going to make an effort to participate in more ship activities this time.
5. I have tried both early and late seating and neither was perfect for us. The early seating had us rushing around like crazy and my kids never made it to the late seating because they were starving and exhausted. We tried getting them to nap in the middle of the day, but they were just too excited to fall asleep. However, if you have young children who are good nappers, I would recommend the late seating. You can always get them a snack at Pluto's or from room service before dinner.
I hope these tips don't sound too negative and are somewhat helpful. Obviously, we have had an awesome time on each of our cruises or we wouldn't be going a third time.
Looking forward to the cruise.
