I have DCL transfers already booked (I am solo and I have not driven since 2006 so renting a car is NOT an option) coming from Boardwalk Inn.

They are doing Champagne Tasting at 2pm on Embarkation Day.

I’ve never done transfers from WDW - I usually stay at the airport area and take the DCL bus from MCO first thing. Do you think I’m ok to book the tasting or is it too risky do you think as a general rule?

It really depends upon the pick up time at your resort and any other resort pick ups yours.

I think that the one time we took WDW transfers to the port our time was around noon and there was only one more stop before the port. If your pick up time is after noon, I don't believe that you can make it in time with any certainty. Count on 1.5 hours of driving time, plus another 30 minutes to board... and you are out of time

As an option, can you get back to the airport via Magical Express (I don't know the rules for ME - if you actually have to have an airplane ticket :smooth:). But getting to the airport earlier then taking the transfer from there could get you to the port earlier - you just have to leave the resort earlier.

Others will be more helpful than I on this.

Hmm... I considered doing the DME to MCO thing, but that is a lot of traveling. I’ll probably just skip it. :( So bummed that is when they are offering it. It’s my favorite. (And on a 4-night I doubt they will have more than one.)

One more chance... Don't book it, but when you get on board, go over to it/sign up. It may not be THAT popular, and they will take you if they have space left even if you didn't sign up in advance.

Best of luck!

Yeah, that's what my plan is. I cancelled the pre-booking and if I'm on board on time I'll check and see if there is availability. Or MAYBE I'll get lucky and there will be another time it's offered.

my Last cruise on the fantasy I didn’t get on board until 1:50. I’m platinum and we skip the pictures. Just barely made it for enchanted garden. But I’m usually onboard around 1. Had a late pickup from Saratoga springs. I wouldn’t do it you probably want to eat before you drink. On most cases you will have time to eat put your things in your cabin than go to tasting. You won’t know if you have a late pickup time until the night before your cruise.

Yeah...it's cancelled. I'll have Bon Voyage Breakfast (as soon as it opens at 7:30) so hopefully that'll fill me up nicely for a bit. But still, I'd rather not be stressed about getting on and getting somewhere. Not the way to start a cruise.

You could take an Uber or Minnie Van to the port. Then you could have them pick you up really early and get to the ship first thing in the morning and definitely make the 2pm tasting.

I don't do Uber and I don't like Minnie Mouse (LOVE Mickey, it Minnie is was too whiny for me) - plus way too much money that I can use for other things.

As I said, I will leave it as is (I've already paid the transfers and so was not able to pick a PAT so would probably end up with a later one anyway) without the tasting. If I get there before 2, I will check and see if there are still openings. If not, I will just hope that they do it later in the cruise...or later than 2pm embarkation day in July when I am on the Dream for 5 nights. Probably make the suggestion in my usual follow-up email that they not have one that early on Embarkation day - wait until after Muster when everyone should be on.
