2nd week of October: No availability?

DH and I wanted to go to F&W from a Monday and check out on a Thursday during any week in October. I wanted a Value studio at Jambo or BWV. Neither was available for all the days during any week in October.

I finally was able to get a studio at OKW and I know SSR had availability as well.

Next time I will make our reservations much earlier.

We added a day to our reservation (10/15) a few weeks back. Our main reservation was at BWV but had to take a studio at OKW for obvious reasons. The waitlist for a BWV studio came through within a couple of weeks.

So it is possible. We also have a BLT studio the 23rd and 24th but are waitlisted for either a SV or LV 1BR. We'll see what happens.

We have been going in October for years - every year it gets harder and harder to get a reservation. It is very frustrating.

true, especially once the 7 month window has opened. This was the 1st year i've had a problem. Our plans switched & I cancelled existing res early this May that I had booked for 1st week of Dec. I intended to book 1st week of October for MNSSHP & HHN-RIP tour again since we had such a great time last year:thumbsup2.

The only resort with availability for any 4 consecutive days the 1st week of October (studio or 1BR) was SSR. I'm on waitlist but really don't hold out much hope. I booked the Portofino for the next 4 nights as i couldn't get the 5th night needed @ SSR, guess U gets more of our money that trip lol.

I likely will cancel SSR (banking the points) & book CRO or one of the DTD properties if i can find a great deal - possibly FDP;).

Conversely, for our July trip, i called MS today & asked if any epcot resorts were open after our upcoming cruise (had AKV booked but figured it'd be much easier to just plant it and visit MGM/Epcot)...BCV was open for a studio!:banana:Guess it's the luck of the draw or people cancelling plans prior to holding period:confused3

We are arriving 9/25 departing 10/1 but could only get a studio at AKV we are on the wait list for BWV and VWL but don't hold out for either of them to come through - our problem is the marathon race on Oct 1st

Thanks for everyone's discussion and input. I think I was surprised because we have taken SO many October trips and this has never been a problem before.

Honestly, it is the first time in the 3 years we have been DVC and many years before that we booked through the travel company, that we have not gotten our 1st request. (So I suppose I really can not complain.)

The position we are in right now is that:
1. We will waitlist for AKV, BWV, or VWL (still trying to decide which 2).

2. We will borrow a few points from next year and book at SSR (We've stayed at SSR before and were happy with it, but we where hoping for something closer to EPCOT.)

OR

3. We will just book POP on cash.

The other problem that has evolved is that airfare is going to be crazy high from our home airport or we will be driving 4 hours to a larger airport. BOO!

As much as I want to go, I am starting to feel like it is a lot to overcome for 3 nights.

At the same time we just renewed our annual passes, while the old price was still in effect, and I want to get at least 10 days this year to make having the annual pass balance the gate price. (We rarely use the other benefits-other than the 10% discount in the stores).

:confused3 Who knows what will happen in the end but hopefully it will result in a great fall break trip.

Cross your fingers....

I waitlisted for a BWV studio in mid October. Time will tell.....

We live in Florida so usually dont plan our trips 11 months out. After reading what everyone is saying it looks like we will have to start thinking further ahead.

i plan late. Booked a trip for early August last week for example. However, my only real advance booking is my BCV 1 Bedroom in October for Food and Wine. That is just a TOUGH time to get Epcot resorts and I think the overflow fills up the other resorts.

Only really Food and Wine and Early December. Even Christmas is easier to get than those two times. And we are four months out from F&W. More often than not, SOMETHING will be available at four months - it may not be what you want and you may have to move. But some times of year were tough even before the point reallocation to get something after six months.

FYI- I just tried to book cancel a Sept trip and change it to Oct (21st to 24th). There were no studios available at any of the resort. Nothing at all. I was trying to find the cheapest airfare for the weekend and thats how I got those days.

So I ended up having to go in Nov and even then it was limited choices for resorts. I know it is last minute so I can't hope for my first choice anyways.

I think I'm very glad I booked right at the 11 month window for our two standard studios at BWV for the 16th-21st. Then, we move over to Kidani for two nights, savanah view one bedroom. I had to wait for the 7 month window to open for that one, but I got it. Thrilled.

This happened to us last year for similar dates. We tried to book a 4-5 day trip around the 2nd weekend in October - we called 5 months out and there was no availability for a studio anywhere in WDW. We waitlisted for two resorts, and booked a moderate with an AP discount thru CRO. I kept the waitlist just in case, but by 6 weeks out, nothing had come through, so I cancelled it.
