2nd seating with little kids- considering switching

Right now we have early dining for our next cruise, and that is what we have had for all our cruises with our kids.
However, this last trip I almost felt rushed to get everyone ready in time for a 5:45 seating. The 2nd seating seems late to me since we typically eat dinner at home at 5:30......but we will be coming from the West Coast and 8pm will really be 5 PM to us, at least those first few days.

I honestly kind of dread dinner just because my little kids have to sit still for a long time, and that can get stressful. Making a 1 year old sit in a high chair for 2 hours is quite the task!

My older two rather be at the clubs than dinner, and we did allow that one night, but I felt kind of bad not having them there with us. They didn't seem to mind though. Haha.

I am wondering if the later dinner will be better this next trip because we won't be as rushed to get to an early dinner. With early dinner we need to be back at the room no later than 4:30 to start getting kids cleaned up and ready. Plus the later dinner has the option of the kids club coming to pick up the kids.
Does anyone know if the nursery does this as well? I don't think so, but maybe I am wrong.
I would just like to hear peoples experiences with 2nd seating and little kids.

Thanks!

No, the nursery staff doesn't come pick up kids, however, at the time your older one leave for the club, you can step away and take the baby to the nursery (just be sure to have made reservations ahead of time).

Personally, I think whatever dinner seating works for you is best. We're also west-coasters, but prefer early seating regardless. But many people do just fine with late seating.

Don't worry a bit about the kids being the club while you dine, many do it, the kids love it (the ones who take to them) and everyone's on vacation.
