I always thought that they had two shows, one for early seating and one for late seating. But in looking at the daily sheet, I only see one show (at 8:30). Do you have to have early seating to see the shows?

Thanks.

I'm not sure what you're looking at, but they have two shows to coincide with the two dinner seatings. If you have late dinner, you go to the show beforehand. If you have early dinner, you go to the show afterwards.

thanks. I must have overlooked it. I was checking out the navigators sheet on club castaway.

No, there's a show for each dinner seating. You might want to think of it as "dinner first" or "show first." I recently posted the following in another thread:

For those with 1st Seating:
  • 6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. — Dinner in one of the three rotation dining rooms
  • 7:45 p.m.-8:15 p.m. — Family shows in various lounges
  • 8:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. — Show in the Walt Disney Theatre
For those with 2nd Seating:
  • 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. — Show in the Walt Disney Theatre
  • 7:45 p.m.-8:15 p.m. — Family shows in various lounges
  • 8:30 p.m.-10:00 p.m. — Dinner in one of the three rotation dining rooms
The end times shown are approximate.

In addition to the family shows, there are other scheduled activities between 7:30 pm. and 8:30 p.m. — or it can be a good time to relax.

Our family prefers second seating.

The times shown are the ship's time, which is based on the time zone in which you're traveling. When we took the Eastern cruise on the Disney Magic in March 2002, for most of the cruise it was two hours later than in Chicago (Central Standard Time). So our 8:30 p.m. dinner was like eating at 6:30 p.m. back home.

thanks again to both of you. This is our first Disney cruise, third overall, and didn't want to miss the shows. We opted for second seating since there is only one sea day and thought that we would use the extra time on shore. I thought that the shows would be after dinner, I think that's how I missed them on the daily sheets. Looks like we will still have to get ready at the same time if we want to see the shows. I do think we will have a bigger appetite for dinner now though.

jinx - welcome to the DIS! You will find a wealth of information here and meet many great people too!

We always opt of the second seating and while my children are older (teens and up and all boys) I found that they had time between the shows and dinner to shower/dress and if I had my makeup on (takes a long time when working with this blank canvas) I could get changed after the show before dinner too. I would say that about half the audience was dressed for dinner and the other were still in their "play" clothes. All of that being said, we never did any of the family activities in between the show and dinner.

Thanks for the welcome, glindamood. I am a convert of another cruise forum and was highly disappointed in the number of posts/members in the Disney forum. Then I found out about DIS and now know this is where everyone is. Thanks for the tip about getting ready between the show and dinner. I'm sure we will clean up a little before the show, unless of course we want our own row to ourselves. ;)
