2nd Job - Kohl's

I've been waiting for ever to get a second job. My kids are in highschool and college and I always wanted to work the Holiday season.

I got hired at Kohl's 3rd shift setting up Sale Tags and bringing in freight.

I work regular hours in an office and get done at 3:30, I go into Kohl's at 10 and work until 6:00 a.m. I can pick from 8 to 40 hours a week, whatever works out best. They like it though if you pick the days the tags need to be changed and freight comes in.

The Biggest Sale of the year, plus the next 4 days get an extra 10% off select items. I saw some really great deals.

1/2 the money I make is going to a fund for WDW and the other half I want to get some bills paid off.
Sort of how I feel right now!

Anyone else work 2 jobs?

For the moment I have NO job at all ~ well, I do work very hard as a SAHM though. I wish I had a job, it would be easier than being home all day!!

Anyway, I wanted to say congrats on getting your second job BUT be careful!! Working at a store like Kohl's is very dangerous! I worked at Mervyn's for nearly one year to help make ends meet BUT my DH made me quit because that job was costing us too much money! I was doing waaaay more shopping than my little paycheck allowed!! So after I quit, it took quite a while to pay off my charge!!

Good luck, I hope you can stay strong! Hard to do at such a great store though!!

Congratulations! Do you get an employee discount - or is that the 10% you mentioned? Kohl's always has great sales - I get their MVP pass a couple times a year for another % off (10, 15, 20) Right now I have $30 in coupons after spending just over $150 (!!!) there last week on kids clothes and Christmas gifts. Got to get back and spend it soon!

Wow! What time do you have to be in the office? It sounds like you're going to be very busy. Of course, I guess it's possible to do anything in the short-term. Good luck and congratulations on the new job.

I worked at Kohl's for 5 years. I was a department supervisor before I quit to be a SAHM. Kohl's has great benefits after you are there a year.

DH worked third shift at Kohl's last year while he was finishing up schooling and getting his boards taken.

They used to have Employee shopping day the weekend before Thanksgiving. You get an extra discount. It's great (and dangerous) for Christmas.

DH and I also were both working at Kohl's when we met.

At dinner last night I talked with my family about the fact that I would like to get a P/T job over the weekends for the winter. I was thinking the same as you one week the check would fund Disney, the next bills.

It got unanimously put to rest. Oh well, I suppose I should be happy that they want me at home.

STHM's - I was one too for 12 years, been working part-time to full time to 2 jobs the last 10.

I get 10% off Hardline items and 15% soft line items.

Yes there will be 2 days for employee' shopping before Christmas.

Sleep - I plan to space it out during the weekday (1 -2 a week to work), and just stay up for the day. Weekends - I'll work at nite and sleep morning till noon.

They told me last nite that all Kohl's stores are going to hire another group of people for the huge Christmas season for bagging items.

I've thought about doing the same thing, work at night when the store is closed. I knew that some stores did it. I'll have to check this out at our Kohl's. Did you ask for the night shift?
