Cast: Me (41), DS (14), DD (8)
This trip was a surprise for the kids. We drove from Southern Illinois to Nashville, Tennessee for our flight on Southwest Airlines the night before and stayed at a hotel next to the airport for our early morning flight. I told the kids we were going to visit some friends that live in Nashville. Then as we drove into Nashville, I spilled the beans!!! My son didn't believe me until he called his dad and confirmed it with him. I don't think that he thought I was that good at keeping a secret.
It was really COLD as we waited to check our luggage curbside on Southwest. I got so cold that it took about three days for me to warm up again. LOL. The flight was nonstop and we waited at the airport for ME for about 20 minutes until the bus came. I was disappointed that it was a MEARS bus and not the pretty magical express bus, but I got on anyway. I believe that we were the third stop at the BWV.
We had a preferred view studio for two nights. Our room looked out over the Christmas tree on the Boardwalk side of the green. AND we could see the Boardwalk too. Great view, Great room, and it was ready right away!!!!
We headed over to Epcot to get our AP's and our DDE. We were heading to Marrakesh for a late lunch at 3. When we got over to the Guest Relations, Jennifer told me that I had to go to the Guest Relations over at the front entrance of the park to get the DDE Temporary card. I said okay and then she said, give me your id's and I will go and get them for you. I said okay and we sat down and waited and rested. While we were waiting, a lady came up and offered us three fastpasses to Soarin'. I was so grateful. At this point, Jennifer came back and gave us the DDE and we were off to Marrakesh.
Marrakesh was deserted practically but the highlight of the trip was my DS(14) getting up and dancing with the belly dancer. He was so happy!!!
That night, as we waited for Illuminations, we met a great couple of DVC'ers and DIS'ers. I talked way too much I am sure, as I always do, but we had a nice conversation about the disboards and DVC. Illuminations was great and the holiday tag was incredible. I could feel the force of the blasts hit my clothing. That was a first for me.
Well, I seem to remember alot about the first day but the rest of the trip was a blur....Here are my highlights:
It was alot colder than last year, the wind was brutal!!
Soarin' was incredible and so fun!
Best restaurants: Hollywood and Vine, Ohana, Whispering Canyon, Teppanyaki
Disappointing Restaurants: Cape May Cafe, Crystal Palace (both had food that didn't taste very fresh)and trails end (Yuck!!!!!)
Seems like we spent alot of time getting from place to place also. Busses and boats were kinda slow.
We stayed until the 30th of December with 2 nights at the BWV, 2 nights at VWL and 5 nites at BCV. All three resorts were beautiful, we got great rooms, all three times they were ready right away and were clean. We loved being able to walk to Epcot and take the boats. I am glad that we got BWV as our home resort.
I went to the MMM on the 22nd, got there at 4:30 and it was disappointing because there was no hot cocoa. I don't like cider and the kids don't either. But the ornament was nice. I didn't make it to the on on the 29th because my feet were killing me and I had to rest.
ME pick up was very early (3:25 a.m.)
But got to watch the video on the way back. Which was nice.
Although this was a very crowded time to go, we had a wonderful time and did pretty much everything we wanted to do (except the water rides, it was too cold) We didn't get up early (like you are supposed to) but it wasn't the end of the world. We just used fastpasses and enjoyed ourselves.
If something had too long of a wait we just came back later or said we would catch it next time. We are DVC'ers!!!!
