Hey all!

My older son turned 4 on Thursday so we headed off to Disneyland on Friday. Fabulous day! I'm so glad I did my "homework" on this board and on other places. It really enhanced our day and helped us make the most of it!

Our party:
  • Hubby & me
  • Our 2 boys (17 months and the 4 year old)
  • My parents
  • My MIL
  • Our 8 year old nephew
.
Our nephew is a bit of a Star Wars nut. He came dressed as a Jedi.

We got an early start (not as early as I'd have liked, but hey, we've got small kids). We parked on level 2 which is like, unprecedented for us. :sulley:

After getting strollers, birthday button, potty trip, yadda yadda, we headed to Tomorrowland. I was really torn between hitting Fantasyland or Tomorrowland first. But the most psyched people in our party were me (for Buzz & SM) and my nephew (for Star Tours and Jedi training). My 4yo is still a little overwhelmed by DL so he just goes with the flow.

As we headed into Tomorrowland, I spotted Buzz taking pics etc. so I left everyone with him and I bolted to get FPs for SM. I dashed back and we went on Astroblasters. 10-15 minute wait.

Then I put everyone in the Star Tours line, and I took the baby for a diaper change and a snack. We packed tons of food so we wouldn't waste time in lines. That totally paid off.

After I picked them up at Star Tours, we hustled over to Jedi Training. My nephew almost started bawling when he saw the crowds, but my MIL shoehorned him in. While we waited (and hoped for him to get chosen) I sent my dad with my 4yo to get in the Autopia line.

Highlight of the day: He got chosen for Jedi Training! :woohoo: Unfortunately that ate up a lot of time, but it was so worth it for my nephew. It was a dream come true.

My dad came back with DS, and it was almost 11 so we decided to eat. That took us to 11:20...Space Mountain time!!! MIL, my nephew, DH and I went to SM while my parents took our boys to Fantasyland.

Rockin' SM is INCREDIBLE! Loved loved loved it. Fortunately we had FPs for everyone who didn't ride, so we saved those for later.

In Fantasyland we picked up my dad and 4yo at the carousel. The baby was asleep in the stroller.

This is when we began to w...a...n...d...e...r... and lose momentum, not good! DS didn't want to ride Dumbo, POTC's line was too long, and so on. So we went for the old standby, Tiki Room. Had a Dole Whip and took a load off with the baby, who was beginning to wake up.

After Tiki, we were refreshed. Jungle Cruise had a short line so we rode that. Then it was time for a snack. I brought candles so we got ice cream on Main Street and sat in a shady area to sing happy birthday and enjoy treats.

DS was feeling the Dumbo love at that point so we got in line for that. Gads that was a long line. But it was fun. The baby loved it too.

Then we headed toward Toon Town. First I had to check for any good cars at the toy shop near IASW. They only had green Ramones and Sally, and we have those. We really need Mike & Sulley cars!!!

We think Toon Town is boring and it is now "off the list". No more Toon Town for us! Plus, there's no shade. And it feels tacked on. Which it is, but it just doesn't feel right. Sorry.

So at this point my parents were wiped out and they wanted to leave. My mom really wanted to ride Monorail so I let her know they could take it to DTD. I thought for sure they wouldn't follow through, but they did! This made me happy because my mom is a So Cal native and has been going to Disneyland since she was a Hawthorne high schooler. My aunt was there the night that Ricky Yama (is that the right name?) died on the PM. Anyway, my mom hasn't been to DL regularly since I was little, so I want her to have fun too.

Okay, long story short...

We then rode IASW, and headed to POTC. The line was shorter and moving quickly. But as we progressed through the line, my 4 yo said "I have to go pee pee." Well, you know how that is. We hauled booty to the restroom, just barely making it in time. So we missed POTC, but everyone else got to ride. While they rode, DS and I picked up Indy fast passes, and wandered around the French Quarter. We played with some pirates and listened to "Jambalaya Jazz". They were great! They threw beads to DS.

Then it was time for some dinner. We ate in Frontierland then planned the close of the day. We'd leave MIL and the kids at the parade route, and DS and I would burn off the remaining FPs.

At the end of the day, we still had 4 Indy FPs so I personally "dreamed" some people in Adventureland. They were stoked!

I'd post pics but it's getting late and I don't want to upload all that stuff.

If you read this far, thanks! I'll post again in 2 weeks, after we go to DCA!
