Hi
I understand there are 2 BR dedicated or lock off rooms in DVC. Are there any advantages to either or is one type more in demand than the other? Just wondering.

There are other differences, but the one that matters most to us is who is staying in the studio part...

If we’re traveling just our family of 5 and our kids are in the studio bedroom, we prefe a dedicated as there’s no way they could go out without going through the main room (and therefore greater likelihood we’d know).

If we’re traveling with other family (adults) and they’re in the studio side, we prefer a lock-off so that they can go in/out without needing to wake the kids (who would be sleeping in the main room)

Another difference is that in the dedicated 2br the second bedroom will have two separate queen size beds opposed to a single queen in the lockoff.

the lockoff will also have a kitchenette and a sleeping sofa.

The rooms will however accommodate the same number of ppl.

The lockoff is booked faster than the dedicated as the studio part of the room can be booked separately leaving only the 1br.

Just for info, if you book a 1br and waitlist a studio at the same resort then the rooms can't be combined into a 2br lockoff.

Dedicated: only one entry door providing entry to kitchen/living room area; has no mini-kitchen in second bedroom and that, along with the lack of an entry door and doorway area, creates more room in the bedroom; second bedroom has two queen beds rather than a queen and a pull-out couch; just one door for internal entry to second bedroom.

Lock-off: has the mini-kitchen in the second bedroom along with an additional entry door just to the studio portion; second bedroom has a queen and pull-out couch except OKW has two queen beds; that pull-out couch is only a full-size not queen-size except at VGF where it is queen-size; double door for entry from living room/kitchen area to studio so that the doors can be closed on both sides to lock-off between studio and 1BR.

At AKV, there is another significant difference. The dedicated (which only Kidani not Jambo has) has one long balcony running across all three rooms (master, living room, second bedroom); on the balcony of the lock-of there is a wall separating the 1BR portion of the balcony from the studio portion of the balcony

At VGF, at least, the capacities are different. Dedicated 2BR will sleep 9. Lock-off 2BR will sleep 10.

FYI, AK-J and BWV only have 2 BR lock-offs, no dedicated 2 BR at these 2 resorts.

What's nice about OKW is that you get two real queen sized bed in both the lockoff and dedicated. No sleeper sofas in the studio portions.
