My family is planning a vacation for next year and we are planning on booking a 2 BR villa.

What are the pros/cons between a 2BR Lockoff verses a 2BR Dedicated?
There are only 4 Adults (2 Couples) and 2 Children (Age 4-1/2 and 2-1/2) traveling in our party so the # number of beds verses pullouts really won't be an issue for us.

Is there anything else I am missing thinking about when making my reservation request?

Thanks,
Tina

A lockoff is a 1 bedroom plus studio with the door in between open. So there are separate entrances for each. There will also be a kitchenette in the second bedroom. The studio/second bedroom will have a queen and a pullout. Most dedicateds have 2 queens in the second bedroom, no separate entrance, no kitchenette.

At OKW there are two queen beds in the second bedroom for both lock-offs and dedicated villas.

The second bedroom of a dedicated 2 bedroom will have more room and/or more closet space since there will not be the kitchenette and the hallway door. I know the dedicated 2 bedroom at VWL had a huge walk-in closet and vanity area in the second bedroom.

I have a question for families that use the lock-off two bedrooms...
How do you use the connecting door? The only time we were in one was at BWV and I didn't know what to do with the door in the evening/night. I wanted to have the door closed (for the noise in the living room) but I wanted to be able to get to the girls and have the girls be able to get to us, which didn't seem possible. Is there a solution that I was missing?

We have stayed in both types and prefer the lockoff. We always travel with DS and his family and they are early risers so having there own door to come and go without walking through the main room is a plus. They also like having their own frig and microwave for late night snacks. The extra closet space was unnecessary. As far as the lockoff door goes, isn't there a door on there bedroom at home? If they go to bed earlier then you just open it when you go to bed.

My girls normally sleep with their doors open upstairs in our house. If it was just a normal door that would be fine. In a lock-off if we had our side of the door closed then if they woke up for what ever reason (bad dream, scared, needed a drink of water, etc.) and were not able to open the door (because you can't) they might panic.

Also the phones are separate in a lockoff. So one family can set one wake-up call, and the other family can schedule a different wake-up time.

DH and I are decaffeinated, and we use the main coffee pot. But always book a lock-off for the caffeine drinkers in the party.

There is no simple solution. We just "almost" close both doors without actually putting them in locked position.

We have gotten the 2BL when we go down with our son and his friends it works great for the reasons stated. Also they can control the Air conditioner.

The 2BL tend to be on the end of the building with not the best views.

They are great when someone is sleeping in the living room.pixiedust:
