Hi,

We travel to WDW every other year. On our last trip I added a night and used up some points that I don't usually use. Not a smart move....point values change and now I find myself 29 point short!!
I know we could stay at a different location, but we want to stay at our "Disney home!"

What are my best options? If it's renting, I've never done that before. Is it complicated??

I know this is where I'll find the best advice!!

Thanks!

Renting or a transfer in of points from another member are likely your best options. You also could stay a night on cash. But staying at a different location can be quite nice. We like to enjoy all the DVC resorts.

Depending on 11 month vs 7 month window, you could buy one time use points from DVC: we own at VGF and BCV but are taking a quick trip in January and are staying at SSR. Rather than borrowing forward, I just called MS and purchased one time use points to conserve the next use year. The trick though is that these points only apply at the 7 month mark and cannot be applied retroactively.

It is limited to 24 points though.

Remove one night and do enough of the one-time points (per year) to cover whatever remains.

Transfer points in from another member.

Borrow against next year's allocation (if you haven't already done that).

Stay at another resort / hotel your first or last night.

Pay cash at the your DVC resort.

Combination of the options noted above.

Just think outside the box. Personally I would find an inexpensive hotel offsite for my last night before heading to the airport the next morning.

we actually always stay in another room our first night of vacation if we are getting in after 2 pm. This way you do not get the last room available that everyone offered complained about and they moved you into because you were late getting to the resort. We like to just take a room and worry about the rest of the trip early the next day. We stay for 9 days usually so the one day move is not a big deal. For shorter stays it would have greater impact.

We've stayed at All Stars many times on days we fly in. Let Bell services know where your going to the next day, pack a day bag with your bathing suits and either check in at your "Home Resort" or go to the parks.:teleport:

We've done the "old favorite" on cash. We've also done the night at the near airport hotel either coming in or flying out.
