OK - the sixth time I've tried posting!!

I've been trying to talk myself out of 'needing' the new Ipod video but I stumbled across an employee discount my employer has w/ Apple... the 30GB Ipod Video for $281 shipped... Do you think I can get a better deal anywhere???

Are you a teacher, student, work in a school? You can get an educational discount, just go to www.apple.com then click education and then the ipod is $169, they are offering free shipping, so it all depends on the sales tax for your state.

Apple is extremely strict about their price points, so the educational discount or your company discount is pretty much going to be the best price you're likely to find.

Thank you to the original poster for letting us know about this offer at Apple. I bought one at the apple store in the mall yesterday and sure enough I got the education discount....I had to show an id and my school website with my name.....I bought the arm band holder and some protectors, plus the insurance and the discount applied to everything..

I am confused. I just got off the phone with Apple sales. The rep siad the educational discount is only available to college lever students or someone who works at a school (any level). How strict are they? Should I try again?
I have not ordered yet, but I have to do this direct from Apple because they are unavailable in my city.

I read that also, but it didn't limit the number ordered on the website. My children's uncle(who is a 9th grade teacher) placed an order for 2 ipod nanos and had them both shipped to him. No problems, they were both discounted.
