at fort wilderness!!!

my ta just made the ressies for me.

i am so excited about this, but i seriously don't think it has really sunk in. i am going to be camping in july after all.

my dates are from 21jun thru 19jul.

now are there laundry mattes there? i know in all that time i will have to do laundry. :rotfl2:

Yes, each comfort station has a laundry. Wow, 27 days! I'm quite jealous. I have 21 days reserved for early December, but even if we do get to go, I know I'm going to have to cut it down to maybe 14 days or so. Happy for ya!

thanks, shan-man! my hubby says i have a serious problem, he says i have an ocd with disney! imagine that? :rotfl2:

OMG,,just think of all the fish'n time you could get in 27 dayz !!! :thumbsup2

Wow... 27 days is awesome!!!! It will feel like you're never leaving! I wonder if it will be even harder to leave after staying such a long time! LOL

thanks everyone!

does anyone know of a good screen tent, or screen room that i could get? i would prefer one that 1 old gray haired (did i mention old) lady can put up by herself?

i think i will be getting a new tent also. this is the one i would like to get

hubby just bought this hhr for me, so i thought this particular tent would work. but i need a screen room that i can put up myself.

i hope you don't mind, but i have another question also: can we only put up 1 tent, or are we allowed 2 tents?

another one also: if other members of my family decide to join us during the 27 days, and would like to stay for a few days, how does that work? do we pay extra per person, or does it matter?

another one: any recommendations for a good small fridge? i would think ice might get expensive for this long of a stay.

thanks that is all i have for right now.

I think I am set to arrive on June 26 and stay through to Aug. I am usually in the 1700 loop. Maybe I will run into you there!

i just thought of another one:

each site comes with a grill. we are not allowed open fires? so does that mean we can use the grill using charcoil?

i am starting to stress over how i am going to feed us for those amounts of days.

i will bring a crockpot and use some of the receipes on this site. i will bring the electric skillet also. i already have a campers 2 burner stove and will probably bring one of our extra small microwaves, so i should have all the basics covered as far as cooking goes.

thanks again everyone for any input. i tend to get fixated on the planning of things like this.

i have no idea where i will be assigned, as i always just go where ever i get put. and i have no idea what to ask for anyway.

but i am going to try to put something out: like maybe a string of green mickey heads?

hopefully we will run into each other! that would be great.

now to figure out how to get everything down there in this small car. i just got this car from having a van, so i will need to really figure this one out.
i am thinking of putting a hitch/basket on it.

Sounds like you are in for a great time. Are you planning on leaving the car parked the whole time? If so, then maybe it would be worth getting an air mattress for the back of the HHR that would be off the ground some and more comfortable.

We got an Eddie Bauer screen room from Target last summer that we used for the trip and it was a great find, fairly easy to set up (although my 8 year old helped, so not sure if it can be done with one person). We got the Eddie Bauer because it was fairly well built and had many different places where it was tied down to the ground - something that might be really important during the summer thunderstorms that pop up. We never had a problem with it blowing over, it had about 16 stakes to hold it down, including about 6 tie down ropes from the top.

I would think that you would want either a good dorm fridge or maybe a 12volt cooler for this kind of trip. The more I think about it, you will probably want to keep the car separate from the tent, because you are likely to need to get out frequently for less expensive food at Wal-Mart or Publix.

I hope you have a great time and post lots of photos. Also, if you need help setting the screen room up, let us know. I could probably convince the family that we need to go back down to help you out. You know, it's the neighborly kind of thing to do and I'm looking for any excuse to go back.

I will be there 6/15 - 7/8. I could give you a hand if needed. My trip is shorter this year - only 23 nights! LOL

yes would you please come down and help me set up?! i already have the air mattress's, so that is covered. i was thinking of this tent because of it being connected to the car, which i thought would help when it rains..

that would be wonderful! if you don't mind. then i won't have to stress over whether or not i could do it alone. thank you so much!

Not a problem. I have had occasions at Fort Wilderness where someone helped me out. (Bad tire, LP leak, needed tools, service engine light on my vehicle which had to be towed, etc.) I also had times when I wished someone was there to help me. (Driving 1300 miles and then trying to back in with just me and 3 kids, driving through a crowded loop with tow vehicles sticking way out in the road, taking down the popup camper and needing some extra hands, hitching up, etc.) That's why I like this board...most people are decent people who are willing to give information, advice and help to others.

We'll be there from 7/2 - 7/14 with plenty of muscle if you need any help. We'll be in a premium pet loop somewhere with the two obnoxious yorkies.
