Well, I believe that a "back-button" day is when you read a post and it upsets or insults you and you have two choices:
1) You can get enraged and post something equally upsetting and get the DIS all wound up or......
2) You can hit your back button and leave the thread with your dignity intact.....
Or at least that's how I've always interpreted it.

Back button days for me are when I am trying to articulate my words and I can't seem to get them out the way I want them to sound. Happens frequently in the late afternoon when I'm tired.
I rarely to never get upset on the boards anymore. I used to let certain people's opinions and posts bother me, but I got over itt. Its seldom that I feel so strongly about a post that I feel I need to back up for fear of regetting it later.
I have back button days for both of the above stated opinions of Pam and Snoopy. Some days I think of what Thumper's mom said about being nice & some days, I just can't say what I want in writing.
I was thinking back button days like in the 1800's when the ladies had the millions of buttons on the back of their dresses.
Mamajoan, there's various reasons why people do that. Here's some I can think of: 1. they got banned and somehow managed to come back 2. they had problems from another dis'er and they really didn't want to lose this place, but didn't want to be confronted by the problem dis'er, so they created another persona 3. They just wanted something different
Another reason a person might change their screen name is because their old name was discovered by someone in their every day life and they wanted to keep their identity private from that person. Hence a name change.
I try and hit the back button when people make purposely antagonistic remarks. I find it much easier on my blood pressure than what I used to do when I saw that.
