I am currently wait listed for a copper creek cabin...I think there are 26. Today I was able to reserve one for cash....how many are DVC and how many are cash? I guess I was hoping they would try to fill requests from DVC since it seems there are a lot of people trying to burn points since we were not able to use them mid march-end of june.....

so...if there was one available today....why wasn't someone offered it off the waitlist instead of putting it on the Disney world resorts booking site.....?

Because that's not really how it works. Disney has their own points they retain and they are free to book what they want with those points, just like we as owners are. Some owners book a reservation and try to rent it for cash. That's what Disney is doing.

It could also be a number of other reasons - anytime an owner exchanges their points into RCI, for example, Disney has to pay for it. They also use those points to book rooms for cash to pay for them.

To clarify, villas don’t go for exchanges into RCI. It is when trades are made for things like the Disney Collection...cruises and such..

But. Disney can take things 60 days or less for breakage, but also anticipate availability and pull early,

As mentioned, Disney can also offer for cash based on points they own so if you see it for cash, it means it’s reserved already by another owner...Disney.

As others have said they are all DVC but may become available for cash if Disney gets points and uses them for cabins from trade outs to cruises, and other non DVC reservations made by members with points. They also become available as "breakage" if they have not been reserved by a member within 60 days of arrival.

DVD also holds between 2 and 4% of points primarily to address when units go out of service for maintenance, but if those are not needed for that purpose they could also be used.

If you are waitlisting a cabin, that likely means you tried to reserve for a time that is very near to the time you attempted to make a reservation, since the cabins are very often open even at 60 days out, and I have yet to see the cabins fill even at 6 months out. DVD retains ownership of a portion of each resort and it can use that ownership interest to reserve rooms up to 11-months out, just like members, and then it can put the rooms it has already reserved up for rent. Thus, the "cash" cabin you are seeing now was likely reserved by DVD long ago.

That in consistent with what I can see for December, most days the cabins a fully booked.

I think things like the Cabins and Bungalows might fill up a tad more the next year because of so many people with points they have to use.
