26 000 deads in Pakistan

S still have not seen any thread about this erthquake in Pakistan and India , that has made at least 26 000 dead so far. Please , do sent your most positive toughts ( and maybe a little money to the Red Cross ?) for the survivors of this tragedy.

I missed the other thread as well.

I just cannot comprehend death and destruction of that magnitude - it hardly seems real. Obviously it is, and my heart goes out to all of them. But it's still so hard to imagine, especially for me, as I've never been in any kind of natural disaster! I can only think of this in an objective kind of way, not an emotional way. I suspect that's true for many of us.

I'm sending positive thoughts that those who are still alive can be found and rescued before it's too late, and those who have lost loved ones can find the strength to carry on. Very sad.

Glad to see that this thread stayed civil. Another thread got closed , and I hope it was because of some disturbing comments some people made and not ... my reaction to these comments ! It could have gotten ugly there , but the moderators acted quickly.

In the paper this morning , the number got to almost 30 000 dead , and some ereas where more than 80% of buildings totaly destroyed ! And this in country where people have never heard of insurance.

I saw the news last night where people were just trying to find relatives and children buried in tons of rubble. Just crying out for some help.
I was in tears....
It's just too sad for words....

I have to think that most are not responding because we are just disastered out here...or on disaster overload, not sure which it is. First we has the tsunami then we have had the hurricanes, and now there is horrendous flooding going on in some of the northern states. After a while I just have to turn it off (the news) and stop reading the paper. That doesn't mean I am not concerned or have no sympathy, I just feel the need to back away from it a bit.

The news report I saw on CNN last night was heartbreaking. They showed them removing a little girl from the school, but all they showed was her arm and hand, wearing a green dress. Very disturbing image.
