:)

Would you rather be suprised with a trip to WDW when on route there or would you rather be told in advance? I was reading about a family that is going to suprised their kids with a disney trip on route there and the thread got me to thinking how many people would love to be suprised that way or would you rather know in advance??

For me I would rather know in advance. To my family half the excitement is planning and just looking forward to the trip. My kids would have hated if I would have popped up at the last second and said we were going, they love to look forward to things. So what about your family? party:

If someone surprises me and makes sure my laundry is done and everything I like packed, then I would love it.

I was surprised with a trip once. My husband did such a great job. He told me a week in advance to pack less than 25 pounds, and I had to be prepared for three days casual, plus an outfit for dinner. THAT'S all I was told. I had no idea I was being whisked away to Catalina via helicopter. Had he tried to pack everything, he didn't think he could do it for me. It was great! (I think he could have gotten it close enough, but the girlie stuff scares him.)

I'm definitely a know in advance kind of person. I agree half the fun is the planning and looking foward to it. I also found out the gender of each of my kids by ultrasound -I'm not a surprise person lol

I think a surprise would be fun, but I love planning a Disney trip. My husband is planning our vacation for next year and he won't tell me where we are going. He's told me a few places he's looking into and Disney was one of them.

Was it you with the husband who grabbed a whole lot of nail polish, as he didnt know what to take? :lmao:

I'm very much an OCD, over planning, control freak. I would hate to be surprised!!

However, I am surprising my kids. They are laid back and love surprises. We surprised them with a long weekend trip to St Louis this summer and they talk over and over about how much fun it was to be surprised!

Honestly, either way would be fine.

Yes, the planning is fun, but can be stressful.

As long as I had enough pairs of my favorite jeans, my favorite shirts, favorite shoes/sandals, makeup, hairspray and curling iron, I would be THRILLED to be told in the car!

No, but I could totally see him packing up every last stitch of shampoo and make-up and hand lotion in my entire bathroom. :lmao:

I wouldn't mind a surprise if I was able to pack for myself.

I did surprise DD with a trip to WDW. DH was out of town so it was just the 2 of us for a long weekend. I picked her up early from school with everything packed in the car. She was really nervous coming to the office because I never picked her up early without telling her. When we got to the car I asked her if she wanted to go to WDW. Right now. She kept asking what about my this and that and I kept telling her its packed. When we got half way down there she finally believed me and said 'Someone needs to pinch me, I feel like I'm dreaming'.

As long as I was told ahead of time to have a bag ready with XYZ in it, I'd be fine.

DH would never be able to pack for me, or for the kids for that matter, lol.

I do love surprises, but vacations I'd rather know about, at least a little.

As a teenager, I'd like to be told a little bit in advance, just for packing purposes. Otherwise, I'd love to be told en route :)

I think I would have a panic attack if someone told me en route. I really like to plan my vacations, and I go crazy when I pack, even if it's just for over night.

I like to know what's going on.

Surprise me. I wouldn't even have a problem if I took a Tylenol PM & woke up at Disney:lmao:

I surprised DH with a 40th to Vegas we were getting ready for work & he said why is so & so here, And I said cause we are going to Vegas! Now go in the car. lets go.

I've been on both sides. We always surprise our boys with our trips because I don't want to hear "How many more days?" among other reasons. We usually pick them up from school and leave directly from there, and they love to be surprised.

DH surprised me with a trip for our 10th anniversary, and I loved it as well. He had even called my boss and arranged for me to have the time off work! However, DH did all the planning I would normally do--ADR's, etc.

For me, I think I could be surprised happily now, but not when I was younger.

We surprised my son with a cruise....we told him when we were at Saratoga Springs that we were leaving there and going on a cruise....he just said, "No." But it was more out of disbelief. We went to breakfast, and on our way to the car afterward, he said, "Are we REALLY going on a cruise?" When we confirmed, then he was thrilled. It took awhile for it to sink in....he was initially overwhelmed.

Well when I was a kid my parents would surprise us. They would wake us up at 4am and say we are going to sea world, and we would show up at WDW!!! So I will be doing the same with my kids....

As an adult, I would want to know in advance..

For kids? I think it would be awesome for it to come as a big surprise!!! :yay:

That's a tough one! I LOVE being surprised, but I'm also a gratuitous planner.

I'm gonna say that I'd rather know, but wouldn't mind being surprised!
