I'm not sure about flight numbers etc but I had heard that the planes will be changing so that PE will now be all downstairs in rows of 3 + 3

Hope someone can shed a little light.

From what I understand the A330's start flying in April from MAN-MCO but they will still fly the 747 on certain days.

Virgin will also start flying the A330's on one of the two daily LGW-MCO routes.

The A330's will not have any Upper seats for now.
The rumor's are they will be changing that but that has not been confirmed by Virgin.

So you could be on either. If you look at ''manage my booking'' on Virgin's website, if the seat map is availible, that will tell you which aircraft you are currently scheduled to fly on.

We have just booked for next april from Manchester.
The outbound flight is in a 747, premium economy, however the return flight is on an airbus 330 which does not have upstairs seating.
My understanding is they are changing planes early in April, which would go along with our dates as we go on the 1st.
We cannot as yet view our seats for the return flight as the seating plans are not yet available.

What, you haven't heard of the new seat technology for Upper Class pax that enables them to sit on the wings?

*If* Virgin reconsiders their decision not to include Upper on the A330's they will just reconfigure the aircraft. Plenty of other airlines who have placed orders for them have Upper/Business as standard.

It's a bit of an odd decision anywho considering the popularity of Upper on the MCO route, one that many cannot fathom but we shall see what happens.

Perhaps cost will be a factor on First immediately. They have invested in the 10 A333's to offset the delays in the Boeing 787. The do make plenty out of the 747 First class because there is room for a fair few of these, whereas in the A333 are they going to get enough in to justify an refit v early?
Initially from Manchester VS075/6 will be the A333 and VS073/4 will be the B744, how this will pan out who knows?

Been looking into the IFE system and will be more than happy to go with the A333 on my flight next October.

Just to note, Virgin does not have a First Class. They have Upper Class which is somewhere in between First and Business but effectively a Business Class level product. And currently there are only 14 seats on the LGW-MCO route which is not a lot compared to the 48+ on the LHR routes.

The new A330 routes are as follows .

Manchester – Orlando VS075/076 daily from 02APR11
London Gatwick – Orlando VS027/028 three days a week from 01MAY11
Glasgow – Orlando VS071/072 one day a week from 07MAY11

The aircraft will have 48 seats in W (Premium) , 265 in Y (Economy) and none in J (Upper) on these routes.

hi Peeps - sorry im a lurker on these boards really but am planning trip for 2nd anniversary next september.

my stupid question (but you can never tell!) is does the introduction of the new A333s mean that we will get new livery/ facilities on LGW- MCO selected flights?

Honeymoon we flew PE out from LHR (to NYC) and back from MCO to LGW and the difference was truly amazing - so much so that ive been looking at flying LHR to MIAMI in order to make the most of the inflight experience.

If this means we get the same seats/ entertainment options as flying out of LHR then we will save Loads(time and money!!) in transport to LHR (live near LGW) and will leave me

Yes it will do on certain flights subject to planes going tech etc.

Virgin could prob help you if you called them on which flights will be the new A330-300's.
