25,000 WDW Unionized Hourly Workers Will Get Raises This Week

Florida is a right to work state, basically Unions are useless.
Being a right to work state does not make unions useless. It makes them provide benefits for their members instead of just taking the members' money. Employees in a right to work state can make their own choice whether they want to join the union or not instead of being forced to join it and pay dues that are not always used for their benefit! The progressive states in the nation are right to work states, the states in economic decline generally are not right to work states.

If you mean that wages and benifits are progressively declining, then you are correct that right to work states are progressive. States like Florida and Lousiana, both right to work states, have some of the lowest wages in the country. As far as I can tell, the economy in Florida is not booming and the State of Florida's unemployment rate is rising not falling. The right to work law is, in reality, the right to work for less.

You can't just use the wage rate to make comparisons, there are many other factors that need to be considered. Cost of living is obviously one of them but you also need to compare how much of the wages the employees lose to taxes, union dues and other fees to come up with a valid comparison. If you want to look at unemployment numbers again there are many factors such as what the major industry is and whether its product is a luxury or a necessity. If you don't use these factors you could definitely say closed shop states have higher unemployment since Michigan which is one of the most unionized states in America has an unemployment rate of 15.7%.

My main point is that in a right to work state people have a choice, in closed shop states they don't. I'm sure you would rather work in a closed shop state but most people wouldn't.

And as distressing as it sounds.....Disney actually pays NOTHING for Coke products. It's negotiated as "advertising" for Coke. That's why we carry Coke cups everywhere around the parks vs. WDW cups.

This is a common myth that is 100% false. Disney does in fact pay for coke products. They pay very little but they still pay for the products. Essentially they are getting them at cost but not free. This is why there was an initiative last year to stop selling bottled soda at ODF locations. The bottles found at ODF locations are far more expensive for TWDC than the fountain version available at counter service venues. Thus less profit for Disney. The cups used throughout Walt Disney World are not Coke cups they are WDW cups with small Coke logos (negotiated as advertising).

The myth that Disney gets its coke products for free has been around for a very long time and even some WDW Food & Beverage managers still believe it to be true even though it never was.

You do realize that "cost" is basically a couple of pennies p/drink?

What are the best "secrets" of Disneyland?
Tue Dec 23 2008:

What no Pepsi at Disneyland?

Coca-Cola products are the only soft drinks that you can buy at Disneyland. Coca-Cola made a deal with Disney to sell their products exclusively. Coca-Cola gives Disneyland all their Coca-Cola products for free as long as they don't allow any of their competitors to be sold at Disneyland. So don't try to order a Pepsi, Dr. Pepper or Mountain Dew because you won't find any Pepsi products sold at Disneyland.

Disneyland makes pure profit from their Coca-Cola sales and they also get other products free with similar partnerships with other companies.

Yes I do. I never said they paid much. In fact I specifically said they pay very little. However you said the drinks were provided to them for free which is simple not true. A couple of pennies and free are two different things.
