HI.

I am just trying to plan our Disney trips for this year. We usually go about 5-6 times a year.

We went last year to the 24 and LOVED it. Our family knows how to get around Disney and is rarely bothered by crowds.

So my questions is when will they announce the dates? Do they have one every year?

Thanks.

They have, indeed, had one each year since 2012. The last 2 years it's been around the start of the summer season, I believe. There's usually some rumors starting several months before Disney actually announces it.

There are two possibilities.

Feb 29th (the one more Disney Day, they did in 2012) and Friday of Memorial Day Weekend.

I really want to take part in one of these but so far have not been able to. And doesn't look like this will be the year for me either.

They've been announcing in January. I think the earliest there was ever a rumor it would happen was December 30th.

THIS.

Disney could do another One More Disney Day on Leap Year like they did four years ago, or they could do a 24-Hour Day on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend to kick off the summer season like they've done for the past three years. In 2013, Disney used the 24-Hour event to promote the release of Monsters University; in 2014, they used it to promote Maleficent and had a heroes and villains theme; and in 2015, Disneyland used the event to kick off the 60th Anniversary celebration.

These events have been getting more and more popular (and packed) with every year, and there were a lot of unhappy guests who were shut out of Disneyland this year, so while I think Disney will continue to hold these 24-Hour events, I sure hope they make some changes to better handle the crowds.

Thanks.

We were there last year, and yes it was crowded, but we had no issues. I also think if you are going to this, you know what to expect. You know by noon its going to be full. You know yo get there early to get a locker. You know to make reservations way in advance. And to be honest by midnight it was damned empty in places.

We got there earlier. Got two lockers. Brought a change of clothes, water, some snacks and a few blankets. My daughter is five and doesn't need a stroll, but I would still bring it so she can sleep, at least on this day. Watch the app. When it starts getting to 89 pick and park and stay put and most of all make sure your plans are flexible.

So when it's 24 hour...like February 29 what were the hours for the 24 hours historically? I'm arriving Feb 29 but first day in parks is March 1. Thanks.

Using Feb 29 as an example, the park hours would be 6 AM Feb 29- 6 AM March 1. The parks would have normal operating hours on March 1

When the parties have been in May, DL opened at 8am the next day. There was no MM either day, it was moved to a day earlier in the week. I'm not sure about EMH, but I'm sure that was rescheduled too since they've started keeping that park open too.

I've been to all 4 of the 24 hour days so far. I'd say that this year was different in that DL closed before it was really as crowded as it was in 2012 and 2014. The crowds were mostly on Main St. There was the fact that they cleared the Esplanade and closed bag check to deal with, though. If there is another event on either day this year, I'd expect the DL crowds to go back to wall to wall people throughout the park and not concentrated like this past year. I don't think Disney would make the mistake of premiering something like a new parade or fireworks (plus they premiered WOC in DCA) again.

I have a feeling the situation will different for future all-niters, if they have them again at all, based on the mess that was last year. That was a disaster IMO. A hard ticket is quite possible.

We were there this year too for the 24hr event but we arrived at 5:30pm and shortly there after they closed all admissions. We got lucky because we had a dinner reservation and that got us in but after they closed all admissions, nothing could get you in. As a result, I felt that the lands were nearly empty but not main st (or along parade route) that was wall to wall crowded. We left around 2:45am and on our way out there was lots of people coming in, from what I heard they reopened at 2:30am. I really want to go again next year since we had so much fun, my guess is that it will be again before Memorial Day on May 28-29...and hopefully on February 29 too for another Disney day.
