At 8:00 am or 9:00 am? Based on last year, the park was busy right at 6:00 am, but then actually seemed to lighten up a bit around mid-morning before ramping up in the evening. I honestly think some folks want to be there at the opening, do a few things and then head off to work! They might come back in the afternoon or evening, but I kind of doubt capacity crowds will be reached at 8:00 am.
Yes, it may be, if ye not be watching your step. Next thing you know, there is a trip (Not a fun one lol) then fall....... So...... watch your hopping!
I got there last year about 4:30am because I wanted one of the lanyards they were giving to the first 2,000 peeps. In honesty, we had 4 girls sharing a room, so we had to start early on showers. I figured since I was up and ready I might as well get in line instead of sitting around the hotel room. Anyway, I got the lanyard, and so did my friend who got there about 5am, but the two at 5:30 did not. It didn't seem too crazy to me at opening, and I was pretty close up in line. Plus there was cute entertainment in the Esplanade.
Be prepared though, DTD Starbucks did not open until 6!!!! WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!?!?!? ;-)
My daughter wants to park hop but I told her it would be like New Years if you leave you may never get back in. Better to just choose one park that day and save the other park for the next day..
Does anyone know if you can ask somewhere before leaving a park if the other is closed for capacity? That way you won't be locked out if you want to hop. I'd very much like to hop that day. Not so much for the attractions but for the shows.

I would be interested in this answer as well. I wonder if the cms at the exit gate would and/or could tell us. I would love to be able to hop in the late morning early afternoon. And then stay put for the evening time. We where there in December for the Candlight Processional. So I am expecting it to be like that. Quiet early on then a madhouse in the nighttime. Is that a good expectation?
We didn't ever ask a CM about capacity when hopping but we didn't have any issues going back and forth in the late evening. Not sure if that will hold true this year due to the 60th celebration and new shows. We shall see!
I do not believe any reservations will help you get in the park. On the first 24 hours it was CHAOS city! There were no accommodations for such things AND how would you even get to the front of a line to talk to a cast member. Basically if you get in the park in the AM and it is busy day DON'T leave! We had a room at the Disneyland Hotel. We got to the park at 6am thinking we would be able to park hop, go back to the room and rest of change clothes. By afternoon it was obvious that the lines to get in the park were filling up and we never left.
I heard the next 24 hour event was better. But this one will be busy again as it is the 60th. Go read some trip reports from that day (the first one) so you know what to prepare for IF it is that crowded again. I know I shared a few posts so you can search my name.
But yes, you should be able to enter at 8-9 am ok. Just be prepared to stay in the park if they hit capacity, if you leave you won't get back in even with reservations for dinner, etc.
