The reason the Swolphin gets both Extra Magic Hours and the Disney buses is that they pay Disney for the privilege. Just as the Hilton in DTD pays Disney to allow their guests to use EMH. None of the other non-disney hotels have EMH for their guests, and also all the Hotel Plaza Blvd resorts have their own bus system, and these buses go to the charter lots and not the Disney Bus Parking areas at the parks.

There is one other hotel that falls into that category: Shades of Green.

At SOG, you cannot use DME. They also have their own transportation to the parks, not the Disney Transport. They also can't do the dining plan, but they CAN do EMH (unless that changed). The SOG buses go to the same lots as the DTD off-site hotels.

It's close to the Poly though, so you can use Disney Transport to the Poly and then do the walk to SOG....but it's across a street and probably 10-15 minute walk.

Actually, that's another Disney Legend like "the turrets can be removed from the Castle in case of a hurricane". After reading "Disney War", the history of the Swan/Dolphin fascinated me and I found the architect's website. Very interesting read. The other legend is that they were designed so that the Monorail could be extended to run through them - also not true.

Disney War is a great book and very eye opening , it kinda proves that all the stuff you thought was going on was LOL.

The story of the Swolphin is one of the best stories in the book to me
