Lol I know you guys are!!

My mom and Eric loved the Mickey fireworks too!!

Mandy.
My MIL didn't attend my rehearsal. That's right. The rehearsal. DHs grandmother, grandfather, aunt, uncle (best man), brother (groomsman), sister (bridesmaid) and two cousins (ring bearers) were all a half hour late.

I have found that for most couples, the groom's family isn't nearly as involved with wedding planning as the brides family is. My in laws didn't care about my dress, the BM dresses and I had to threaten them before they would go get measured for their tuxes.

In the end, it doesn't matter. This day isn't about them. It's about you and Eric. I'll always remember that MIL didn't come to our rehearsal, but did it make our day any less special? No.

You need to make your peace with this now. Make your peace with the fact that they just aren't going to get excited about the wedding. Believe me.

Also, another little story for you: DHs family wasn't into wedding planning. They are also not into planning for baby. It's the first grandchild. The first great grandchild. They said congratulations, and that was pretty much it. (In fact, they have said that the only time they plan to see the baby is when we bring it to NJ- we're in FL) I'm sure that when it's time for a baby shower, they won't be into that either. I'm REALLY glad that I made my peace with their lack of interest during the wedding, because I'm sure that if I didn't I would be having a really hard time right now. I know your FMIL wants you to have kids soon, well so did mine. And she's not as excited as people think she should be

Sorry this was long.

I think most people not directly involved with the wedding (bride/groom) don't tend to get super excited for wedding stuff months in advance. My husband certainly didn't sit down and chat with his groomsmen (brothers) about wedding colors and flowers. LOL. That's just the way it is.

My in-laws weren't terribly involved either. They did plan/pay for the rehearsal dinner. And I invited my mother-in-law dress shopping once (I had already narrowed my choices down to two dresses.) I didn't really need her help but she has no daughters (or daughter-in-laws either) so I thought it would be a nice thing to do. She really seemed to enjoy it.

Some families just aren't as into weddings and babies as other. My sister's father-in-law definitely doesn't get excited about her grandkids as much as my mom and dad. Some people just don't get overly excited about stuff.

And my in-laws are a LOT different than my family. Sometimes it sucks but I just have to remind myself that in the end, it doesn't matter.

I probably missed where you posted it. But what are your wedding invitations going to look like?

Well, I certainly missed a bit, now didn't I? :rotfl: I shall list my responses (because I like lists ;)):

1. Totally digging the hair! Love it!
2. The invites came out fabulous for your welcome party! And way to reduce, reuse, and recycle. :rotfl: Makes me think of the recycling episode of Rocko's Modern Life...
3. Looks like you got the dinner issue sorted out. I was in agreement with everyone else. Pass along the invite if they come, cool, if they don't, more money to buy dessert with!
4. To Lindsay: Congrats! :goodvibes
5. And if Eric needs more support, he should totally start a PJ journal on here. ;)
6. And I cannot wait to see the wedding invites completed!

Now, to continue being stuck in Wisconsin and missing classes on Monday! :rotfl: I totally used a lot of exclamation points in this post. And the word "totally." Haha.

The new invitation format looks great!

Really don't like it get to you. I have to agree with Peyton, I've found most people not really interested in the wedding planning aspect. My own BM's, DF's GM's, family, etc. Luckily I have all the girls on here and my coworkers who also want to know every detail, lol! So I talk about it with you guys and Don't worry, when they're actually there, they will notice all the details and how wonderful it is.

Don't worry Mandy. We're all excited about wedding planning with you! Hehee... I second Karen that it's why we all love the boards... we get to Dish on nasty family members, and we're all OCD Brides who know exactly what each other is going through.

Do what makes you and Eric happy... thats all that matters! Dont let anyone ruin it!

Those invites are fab, excellent work ladies.

(Congratulations Lyndsay)

Your hair is great, you look so good with that cut!
And adding to the opinion to just let it go about the FMIL's response and lack of interest in plans. A million reasons why she might be that way, you can't guess which one it is.

You have to put up pictures of your new hair plans! Little flower, big flower, headband, what will it be????

Thank you! And thanks for you input about my FMIL. I am slowly getting over it!

No idea with my hair. I am still getting used to the cut and I still want to try to curl it even though its short. We'll see!!

That is a lot of traveling! Where do you have to go? Will you be able to come online while on your business trips??

A little behind, but wanted to say the new haircut is super cute :thumbsup2
Also, great job on the invites!

Sorry to hear about the in-laws, my MIL was that way too. I know we tried to plan several group activities throughout the week to allow everyone to enjoy their vacation while still taking part in some wedding events.

Actually one of my trips got canceled. Next week I am headed to Vegas for a conference but first my dad and I are visiting the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam. Then I'm home for a week and then off to King of Prussia, PA for a class. Yay.

Goodness! you're just a little jet setter aren't you! ;) Have fun at the grand canyon and hoover dam!!! You'll have to take some pics for the boards!
