.................................

school started here last week and already sent home a letter stating that if our child comes down with the flu during the school year we are to keep them out for 7 consecutive days to keep it from spreading further. They have also said that if a high number of children become ill that they will shut down the school for a period of time.

So it sounds like they have already been thinking long and hard about it and ready for whatever comes at them. I myself have not given it much thought and I will deal with it as it comes. Only DH gets a flu shot as required by his job, but myself and DD's never get it and rarely ever get sick (knock on wood)..:goodvibes

The 7 consecutive days is the newest recommendation from the CDC. It's all on their website in regards to onset of symptoms, staying isolated, etc.

This is just me and the way we do things here. We WONT be getting the vaccine. I don't do the normal flu vaccine either. Each year I got the Flu Vaccine and the 1yr my oldest son did, we both got sick with the flu really bad. Then the past 2 years we skipped the vaccine for the Flu and nobody got it. My husband is the same way except this year...he got H1N1 from someone who brought it back to the sandbox after their R&R.
.

Same here - we have never gotten the regular flu shot and I can't remember the last time any of us has had the flu. DH is also an airline pilot so I'm sure he exposes us to lots - LOL! I'm not saying we won't ever catch the flu - but so far so good ;)
