yikes!! There is a lot of flu going around NYC right now. I hope they don't have it

DD and her family just came back from a 4-day trip with a large group of friends - all from the NYC and Long Island area (adults and children alike)..

DGD started getting sick last night: headache; sore throat; etc.. DD kept her home today.. Now she has a temp of 103 and is coughing.. Called the pediatrician earlier and he said to bring her in tomorrow..

DD's DH came home from work early (something he just doesn't do).. Headache; sore throat; chills; extreme fatigue - hit the bed and was out like a light..

Right now DD is placing calls to the others in NYC and Long Island to see if anyone else is sick..

I refuse to panic - but that's not going to stop me from asking for prayers and healing thoughts.. Whatever it is, it appears to be contagious..

So - I had to tell her that even if DGD and her DH are feeling better by Thursday night - when they plan on arriving here for Memorial Day weekend - then are going to have to stay down in their trailer and away from me.. With my health issues, I can't take any chances - regardless of "what" kind of virus/bug it might be..

Please keep them in your thoughts - and say a prayer (if so inclined) that others from the group haven't suddenly become sick as well..

Oh my C.Ann, I'm so sorry dear, sounds serious! Hugs and prayers your lil DGD, SIL and friends to feel better real soon. I'm glad the drs are taking xtra precautions just in case ~ since it's too late for tamiflu, did dr say there any meds that will help at this point? Thank God your DD is able to care for them. Did I remember you saying she has health issues making her more succepible, it's a saving grace she's well thus far.

Thank God, DH and I, my Mom, kids and all grands are doing good in Md./NC/Ks. thus far. I haven't heard of anyone in our areas with flu YET! Which is welcomed news, as we have grands in 3 states and 9 different schools. We all wash our hands faithfully and if we sneeze we do it in our elbow area, to prevent hands from spreading anything! Even on our recent flight and cruise to PRico we were xtra precautious...hand sanitizer often, echinacea, Zicam swabs and cold tablets if we felt the least out of sorts. Like many, I'm slightly leary of what this new breed of flu might do.

Big hugs and prayers to all your family. I hope that call comes soon to ease your mind, that it is nothing too serious. Let us have faith they are in good hands and will be on the road to recovery soon.

I hope they dont stay sick for much longer. I suppose if Dr.s, of all people, say it's nothing to worry about then they might be right... let's hope they are!

C.ANN your family is in our thoughts & prayers. I'm so glad The Drs. are taking this seriously, as I just saw a news report that a lot of Drs. aren't even testing for swine flu, so the CDC has no idea what the real numbers are!!! Best wishes to all concerned.
