Well, we are down to our last three weeks before we set sail on our maiden DVC vacation to the BWV. We’ve been to WDW almost every year for the past 8 years or so but this is the most excited we’ve all been in a long time.

We will be renting a car and staying in a 2-Bedroom. We purchased annual passes for everyone and I think I’m set.

Since this is our first trip as DVC’ers, I was wondering if any of you could offer us a little advice?

1). We only requested a non-smoking room. Should we ask for specific rooms or floors? If so, which ones?

a). Do we just call the DVC reservations for our request or should we fax the BWV just prior to our arrival? Both?

2). Since we have a car, should we just grocery shop ourselves, or should we have DVC do it for us?

3). We will be there for 10 days. How often will they clean the room? Do you guys just do a load of towels when needed or request that towels be brought to the room?

Anything else?

Thanks for any tips you may be able to give us Noobies on our first DVC trip.

I can help out with these:

Personally, I'd stop and shop on your own. You get to pick out exactly what you want, it's cheaper and alot more choices!

3). We will be there for 10 days. How often will they clean the room? Do you guys just do a load of towels when needed or request that towels be brought to the room?

On a 10 day stay, you will on day 4 get trash & towel and condiment refills (coffee, soap etc.) on the 8th day you will get a full room service cleaning.

HTH
And have a great time! :)

To add, as regards cleaning the room if you find at any time your in desperate need of a little help before the 8th day then for an extra charge ($25 for a Studio, increasing to $35 I think for a two bed) you can request house keeping on any day, just need to give 24 hours notice.

Also if it helps the laundry facilities located on the 1st floor on the Villa's side of the Boardwalk are free. Although they have a place to put coins simply operate this device without any coins and volia the washers and dryers will work.

Have a good time.

Since you are staying in a 2 bdr, you will have a washer/dryer in the One Bdr.Unit that the studio attaches to. When I stayed in the one bdr last May, we just threw a load of towels in the washer in the am before heading out. When we returned in the afternoon the towels went into the dryer.

Make sure to bring Laundry Soap and Dryer Sheets. DVC gives you one little box of Laundry soap to start that does one load. They will replenish the supply on Towel/Trash day and on full cleaning day. Since you probably will do the grocery stop yourself, just pick up a small supply of laundry stuff.

I also visited the trash room every day so that we wouldn't be bothered with any build-up. There is a trash room located on each level of BWV.

Last May was our 1st DVC experience after many trips to WDW. We loved the convenience of the 1bdr. villa. Enjoy your trip!:)

Actually, on a 10-day trip, you get a full cleaning on day 4, and trash and towel on day 8.

You can request a high floor... are you prefered or standard view?? I would call MS and have them put it on your reservation.

Boardwalk is my favorite resort....

I love walking the loop from BWV to BCV, BC, YC, S/D....

There is a little bar, that is on the other side of the lobby.... great place for a night cap.

The stairwells are ugly, but can save a lot of time, esp getting to the pool.

I love the carpet in the hallways....

There is a trash room, like the above poster said, we always take a bag out with us.... less mess in the room.

Enjoy your trip!

We got the standard view. I think we did this for points reasons.

Thanks for all the tips. Keep them coming.

Where is that little bar that is good for a nightcap?

Some upper level standard view rooms have a view of the fireworks from Epcot....

The lovely bar is to the right as you enter the lobby (BWV is to the left) Just down the hall and to your left...... Old games is the decor. Simple. And you can get drinks to go.
