If I was single & unattached, I'd probably be quite pleased (depending on the circumstances of WHY we had not communicated in 5 years).

If I were attached, probably not so much.

Maybe start with a Christmas Card rather than direct contact.

It would depend on what the original relationship was and the reasons for the 5 year absence.

Without a doubt if I was single I'd be more than happy.

I'm married with two kids. I'd still be happy to hear from them, just wouldn't do anything beyond talk.

Married guy, 2 kids here as well. I'd love to hear from any of my ex-girlfriends, provided the intention wasn't to somehow rekindle an old flame. I think it would be fun to talk about old times and how far we've come since...

It's amazing how things work out. After losing my wife I got a email out of the blue from a lady friend I knew several years ago and hadn't heard a peep out of. She knew nothing of how things were going. She just said she had a feeling she needed to drop me a line.

I say do it.... :thumbsup2

Oh you just knew a wife would pop in here! :lmao:

I think they guys who said "only if single" are right on. If you are going to contact a man that is now married... just dont. If you are going to even send a Christmas card, address it to Mr and Mrs.... save them some headaches.
:flower3:

There's probably no pat answer, let alone a safe one. As others have mentioned, a lot depends on the previous relationship, how it ended, current relationship (married/not married) and last, but not least, intentions.

I'm married and not looking for anything to interfere with that, but there are a few girls from my past I wouldn't mind hearing from on a strictly platonic basis. My guess is that they, too, are happily married and it would be nice to say hi simply as old friends. On that level, I know my wife would be okay. A few of the guys from her past and I are friends. It's all about being an adult about things.

The guy not married or seeing anyone. Thanks for your thoughts though.
