Because OF COURSE they made HEA into the challenge.

The Pirates one is MEH but I love the Jungle Cruise and BTM. I’ve never signed up for the virtual series and don’t think I will start now but this may be the most I’ve ever been tempted to
Yeah. You're essentially just buying medals, but it's also a fun way to bribe motivate yourself through some summer miles if you like shiny things. Summer Series was one of my gateways into running, and I have the sets from the Lion King (one of DH's favorites), and Frozen (DD's favorite.) I also like to cut the box lids off and put them in a frame to add to my shrine wall of runDisney stuff.

If I thought she'd care about them at all, I would use them for DD to do some training this summer. But she's really too young to be excited about *attractions* instead of characters.

Don’t get me wrong - I wasn’t criticizing virtual medals/ races. And my local virtual races got me through the COVID lockdowns. I would have done rD virtual then but they won’t ship to Canada and I couldn’t get across the border.

I think virtual races are a great intro into running and to keep motivation going. I just haven’t been as into them post lockdown.

But those 2 medals are awfully tempting.

Agree 100%. I love my shiny trinkets. I'm really irked that if I want that HEA medal I have to spend $180.

I feel the same way. They had me going through COVID. I love this kind of theme and wish it was something they’d do for Springtime.

This type of theming would be great for Springtime. It always just seems to be a random mish-mosh of characters.

Am I the only one thinking that the theming seems to be getting better? W&D seems more cohesive with the meals of the day (although I did need context for that one). MW is awesome with different literary genres for each race. These virtual medals all seem to go together. Maybe rD is turning a corner with themes. It will be interesting to see what they do with Princess.

Had to check last year's thread bc I was pretty sure the medals sold out quicker than expected and all three individuals were gone same day, challenge lasted longer. Not sure how popular these will be in comparison but if you're interested I would get in at release.

I agree, virtual races saved me during the COVID shutdowns but I don’t think I’d still sign up for one now. I absolutely love the theming though, especially the Happily Ever After challenge!

I think they did a ride theme in 2020. Teacups, Space Mtn, and Haunted Mansion. And then the ticket book for the challenge.
Yep that was the 5th anniversary in 2020

I did marvel in 2019 because marvel, parks in 2020 cause parks also covid, lion king in 2021 cause covid and not knowing when in person races would be back (I think they announced wine & dine 2021 in person less than a month later) that a solo for frozen just cause medals were out pre registration during springtime

On the one hand I do close on 4/1 on the other I’m in charge of springtime expenses

The rD just released some video of the virtual series medals. They are awesome! The POTC medal has liquid in the bottle that looks like it pours out. The Jungle Cruise medal has a spinning captains wheel behind the medal. The Big Thunder medal has a train light that you can turn off and on. The Happily Ever After medal has blinking lights (fireworks?) above the castle. These are cool. I think I may have to sign up.

Yep, would definitely aim to treat this like any other RD event, these look fantastic. Honestly a bit annoyed that they went virtual here because all of them would make for a great in person race theme.
I agree, these are great themes! They really went all out with these medals, I had no plans to sign up but these might sway me…
