2025 Moonlight magic

We left with 6 coupons. Couldn’t even give them away! By far, the best Moonlight Magic is at AK. We did not need drinks so didn’t get any. Also wanted churros and was disappointed that we couldn’t get any. Lines were long. I will never be disappointed if we could not book this one again.

Interesting. We went to AK last year and absolutely hated it. You couldn't pay me to go to one there again. Why even have a "Moonlight" Magic event in a theme park where literally 50% of the park shuts down after dark?

While the coupons were definitely not the same as last year, those $10 coupons were a disaster waiting to happen. Everyone realized pretty quickly that you could use them at some of the Lunar New Year Festival booths (and quite a few other places) and that made for huge lines filled with day guests and DVC members until they cleared the mix out at 9:00. Since it's just a three-hour event, and the actual event doesn't start until 9:00, I'd prefer if they limited the coupons to just true snacks, like Mickey Bars, sodas, popcorn, pretzels, and of course churros, and just increased the number of carts distributing those items (maybe double the number?), starting when the actual event begins. There's really no need to have any "food" items like hot dogs available.

Regardless, it’s free so it’s a win regardless.

Since COVID, I recall AK having snack tickets for churros, pretzels, egg rolls, drinks, etc - no vouchers for something more substantial than a snack. (Pre-Covid there were actual meal vouchers).

Maybe you're referring to Jan 25, 2025 EPCOT having $ denominations?

I’m referring to the $10 coupons at DCA that were issued last year and mentioned above (that could be used for food throughout the park) . That is my point: when they tried them last year it was a mess and that’s probably why they went back to snack coupons at DCA this year (like they do at the other parks, including AK).

Rides were pretty much all walk-ons except RSR, which was still like 40 minutes.

I don’t know that a map would be helpful - it didn’t list any of the actual specific characters or anything. A few of them were on the app, but not all of them by a long shot. We grabbed one but it didn’t do us much good.

There was a “silent DJ” where Baymax meets, somewhere there was a regular DJ, a 10:15 WOC showing, some stuff like the GOTG dance-off and that kind of thing, and other than that it was rides and characters.

There were snack vouchers but they weren’t useful for much - any place that had something more interesting than popcorn had a huge line. There were also ice cream carts with free Mickey bars, Mickey ice cream sandwiches, or fruit bars. Those had pretty long lines at first because it said “while supplies last,” but they seemed to be available all night.

Can’t complain about a free event, and we have nothing to compare to, so it was fun for us.

Ice cream is usually the best benefits. I'm not aware of Disney ever running out of ice cream at Moonlight Magic.

There are 2 docks that used to be used for the river boat ride at AK. I think Up Country is in Asia. There's another on the Africa side, if I recall correctly. A shame that boat ride didn't last long......

It is on the walking path along the water on the NON-tree of life side of the water between Africa and Asia. Across the walking path (but same side of river) from feathered friends in flight.

We rode it a few times before it was discontinued. Maybe I'm not recalling this correctly but it was originally supposed to be transportation between Asia and Africa, but people considered it an attraction. It just didn't have the capacity for all the people who wanted to try it out.
