2024 Goals

Week 52 year end wrap with comments and observations

Financial

✔Tokyo Disney Vacation Fund 50/week
2600 / 2600
Hit the goal with ease, give myself an A for it (now just to save more money towards the trip!)

✔WDW Vacation
2600 / 2600
Another goal hit with ease, give myself another A for it

✔Brokerage Account
10575 / 10000
Another easy win, another A grade

✔Roth
2500 / 2500
Another A grade but this was a bit harder and took a bit more focus

New Car Fund
1600 / 2000
The first fin goal that did not go as well as expected, overall I would say a C grade for this one

Land Fund
363 / 1000
Another fin goal not met grade D. Overall this was not suppose to be perfect it was designed as just putting some "extra" towards an eventual rural property purchase if an opportunity arises. Will add agin next year! Every little bit helps

Remodel Fund
3000 / 3000
Another fin goal that was met, giving myself an A for compeletion but it was a bit harder than expected

Cut Discretionary Spending 20%
This was a tough one as we had been cutting expenses that last couple of years, I was probably overly optimistic on cutting 20% discretionary funds, It really ended up being about 10% overall, will try and get this same goal next year! Overall grade D

✔Eat out no more than once per week (preferably less)
48 / 48
Convience plays into this goal a lot, at least I did not go over the alloted amout so it was "win" but still a loss as we ate out once per week, going to try and cut a few out for next year!
Run Annual Credit Reports
Easy fin goal to met, just requires me to get it done at tax time which is convient

Life
Read 40 Books
22 / 40
This was a major downer for the year giving myself an F on this one, but I did listen to a bunch of pocasts on finances, retirement, and life building nb place of it. So not as bad as it seems but can still be better next year!

✔+Less Procrastination (if it takes 15 minutes or less to do, just get it done!)
170 / 52
A major source of getting crap done! Giving myself an A+ for this one! It is amazing how many things get put off everyday/week due to time available but when you actually do them there is literally no time involved. This has been a big production goal for me this year. So much stuff got done, will continue this next year as well
Adventure
Spend a mini vacation someplace new (in addition to our yearly WDW vacation)
Alaskan Cruise with a couple of land days in Denali National Park
One of the best vacation we have taken (the most expensive as well, but worth every penny!) Saved up several years to take this trip!
Health
Lose 30 lbs
22 / 30
This was a lot of work, It appears weight loss has leveled off, might have been overly optimistic but it was a strong showing none the less. Giving myself a A for results anyway. It was a lot of work but well worth it, I feel so much better both physically and mentally. My personal trainner has stated that I more than likely hit my target but I just built up more muscle in the process which counteracted some of the weight decrease
House

✔Keep kitchen counter and table cleaned off
260 / 260 days
This is mentally harder than one would think! At the end if the night the last thing you want to do is file away some paperwork, put some random items away, or just tidy up an area, but it was well worth it when you get up in the morning and the space is neat and clean. A good way to start the day! Give myself an A

✔+ Declutter 500 items
723 / 500
Giving my self an A for this one as well, every year I think there is no way to get rid of that much stuff but every year I am surprised by it! Some of it is just random small stuff, some larger items, some in between but they all have taken up space in the house for too long! It really has allowed for some of our "nice" stuff to be showcased as it in no longer "hidden among the weeds".

Reinsulate the basement
Not completed, grade of F (no monney was available for this project). Decided to wait until the office, bathroom, and kitchen are remodeled (makes more sense!)
Label Individual circuits in house panel
Easy win, just required someone to help me with running the tracer unit, earned an A
Remodel office (new sheetrock, new electric, new trim, new flooring
Overly optimistic on cost, budget, and time so an F on this one!
Remodel den (new sheetrock, new electric, new trim, new flooring): Including: repairing broken floor joist, adding new insulation abouve the ceiling as there was almost none in place, and new subflooring
A for completion
Replace Living room flooring: including: new subflooring
A for completion
Replace bathroom toilet
A for completion
Replace Bathroom faucet: including: new drain trap
A for completion
Replace upstairs thermostat (x2)
A for completion
Replace back porch door
A for completion
Paint back porch floor
F for completion, ran out of time and nice weather

Bonus: (extra credit earned)
Used up the laminate flooring that was replaced in the Living Room and put it in our office to get rid of the nasty stained carpet, temp fix until we actually renovate that room along with the kitchen and downstairs bathroom in a few years, just need to save more $$$$

Observations:
Overall a lot of stuff got done this year! I am very happy with the results and as such look forward to setting next years goals which will have some of the same, some expanded, and some new as well. Still have a bunch of things to0 accomplish and make life more enjoyable!
