Had our second garage sale today. It has been a difficult couple of weeks so I almost canceled but DD said her friend gave her several boxes to sell so I went a head with it.we sold a fair amount of items. We had a lot of people looking for collectibles. After the sale we took a car load to goodwill

It's been a little while, but trashed:

- 4 reusable bags that outlived their life (had several more in a closet so no need to purchase new ones)
-2 more charger cords that no longer work
-cat bed that the cats have given up on (they haven't used it for a month or so and then we left it out another two weeks and no interest so out it goes)
-some old catalogs the little guy i babysit for loved to page through as his "mail" but hasn't looked at in weeks
-several socks and undies that DH apparently didn't notice or didn't care had holes in them 🙄 (Tip: we buy the same brand of everyday socks for him so we can toss one when it gets a hole and still keep matching pairs. it's worked well for us)

Online consignment sale was this past week. I only ended up having time to post 86 items. Will find out in the next day or so how many I actually sold. Anything that didn't I will list on Poshmark until the end of the month. After that it's all being donated.

Cleaned out my bathroom "get ready for the day" drawer. Tossed a foundation I hated, 3 makeup brushes that were in good condition but I have others that I like way more, and a lip gloss that was well past its prime.

This is a great idea! I'm going to start doing that for my partner. All his socks are black anyway, they're just all slightly different lengths and thicknesses - it's actually really hard to find a proper matching pair lol!

June was a really slow month! End of school year with state testing, state grading, and family drama! Maybe July will be better on the decluttering front! :)
1 dead pen - trashed
1 dead marker - trashed
3 file folders of misc unneeded paperwork - shredded and trashed

Ripped up silicone pet food mat
Cat bed they haven't used in months
Two used up chapsticks that have been hanging around and hadn't been tossed
Bench cushion that never fit properly because I just bought it with fingers crossed and didn't bother to measure (and we all know how that works out)
Couple of yahtzee scorecards since we played a bunch of games these past few days (these don't really count but this is like when i put "shower" on my to-do list just to have something to cross off)

Not keeping track of actual numbers, but helped my oldest daughter clean out her desk, two buckets of dolls/accessories/clothes and her bucket of stuffed animals. She willingly donated a lot of things, which was more heartbreaking than I expected it to be lol.

Here is a story to encourage people to destash themselves.

I have a friend who had a stroke about 2 1/2 years ago. She had lived in her house for over 30 years and she wanted to return to her home, but it’s not in the cards. I just talked to a place that will clean out her house over 4 days but it will cost her $15,000 to have it done. They will sort, transfer stuff to keep to a storage locker, donate stuff, sell stuff and throw out the junk. It’s a lot of work and very expensive but it means that her friends (ie, me) don’t have to do it.

July destashing results

Better results this month! Looking forard to hopefully getting more stuff out in the month of August!

Took a relatively large box of donations from the garage to the drop off yesterday, as well as a stack of boxes to the recycle center.

Also deep cleaned, purged and organized our main pantry. Thankfully not much had to be tossed, but it was in desperate need of a good cleaning and now we can actually see everything we have in there. Also came across a pasta maker, ravioli cutter and bag sealer that are never used and joined yesterday's drop offs. And my daughter has decided she's ready to get rid of her easy bake oven, so that got added to the box of items to sell in the fall kid's consignment sale.

A small win today, I was finally able to get the chest freezer and the kitchen freezer organized into one today. I was able to get the chest freezer defrosted as a result, Only ended up throwing out 3 itmes total that were extrememly freezer burned! Now I will probably leave it unplugged until mid sept when we start stocking sale items again!

EXCELLENT!!!! i've found i can keep so much better track of stuff in my freezers by virtue of having an invantory list on the front. it reminds me of what i've got or what i need. i also found an AWSOME label for containers that go in the freezer so i can easily identify leftovers (and they disolve in water so not trying to peel them off :thumbsup2 ).

I'm having a charging cord party this evening. If I can not find the device you belong to then you are getting thrown out. Everything else is getting labelled so when the item goes, the cord goes. The amount of charging cords and charging blocks we have around here are crazy.
I am also gradually working through my devices and accessories. It's a bit tricky for me though, since my partner is a tech-head who works in IT, he wants to keep EVERYTHING!

Finally got around to taking a box to the op shop the other day. 2 more in the car ready to go. Picked up a few storage items over the last few weeks too, so my office is starting to come together nicely.

If it can't show me something it charges I'm done with it at this point. LOL. I realize it's not that simple. But I did a massive clean out this weekend.
