2022 no magical express announced

We used to stay offsite in condos, and we’ve always rented a car as my husband golfs. You can get a car for the cost of the airport car service quoted above but it takes work to find deals! The added parking fee onsite was definitely a setback, but a lot of offsite hotels charge as well at least if you want “upscale”. The real reason we stay onsite currently is for the extra fastpass booking window. I know that’s a non-issue currently with Covid. But if they took that away, we don’t need to be in the bubble. :(

So sad to hear more magic extras be taken away. Extra late hours, DVC member extras gone and now the magic express. Glad they at least are giving guests a years notice as I'm counting on the magic express for my vacation this year.

I'm guessing fast passes won't be back or if they bring back will charge like Universal Studios. There isn't much free stuff anymore even magic bands are gone.

Oh I so would like to count on a vacation this year! :rotfl:

That would suck! .... unless they allowed onsite people to use fastpass lines like at Universal.

I haven't been the Universal in 15+ years. I do think Disney needs to do more to capture back the clients they had. Buying direct and indirect points will be harder in this economy so it doesn't make sense that they are taking away so much.

I've gone a couple of times and Disney has done a amazing job with social distance, and making people feel safe. I just wish they stopped taking so much magic away. I miss the fireworks, shows, and extras. I'm afraid alot of it won't come back as it's cutting costs.

I am seriously bummed about the Magical Express. I loved not having to touch our luggage and that once we landed at MCO we were truly in the “bubble”. I’m glad my girls are out of car seats now ... that was another huge benefit when they were young.
Now the new extra magic hour (or whatever they’re calling it now) I actually really like. I think it will be a lot more flexible and useful for my family than extra magic hour used to be.

Used DME on all my solo trips. This is going to really hurt. I don't like to Uber or Lyft as a solo traveler. Not having the Disney baggage delivery was one thing, but not having the DME really stinks. I can't imagine how horrible taking the train to Disney Springs and schlepping my bags to a Disney bus will be. Those buses really aren't set up for multiple families with myriads of bags. Just envisioning that mess boggles the mind.

Ah, but it's only the Deluxe Universal hotels that get the fast lanes included, others can add it to their ticket. If they make that a perk of staying at Disney Deluxe it would be very upsetting for those who stay Moderate or Deluxe, Disney's hotels are more expensive than Universals to start, and I think they are not necessarily that much nicer.

You'd have to look pretty hard to find a more hard core WDW family than ours but man 'o man, it seems like all the little extras that kept us going back year after year are all just about gone now and they sure haven't lowered any prices that I can see. I hate to say it but this last announcement about DME and EMH has me thinking we may have already taken our last trip. I mean, really?? You charge us thousands of dollars to go there and can't even provide a ride from the airport?? Yeah, I'll take my money elsewhere now. Thanks but no thanks!

I can't believe I'm going to say this but I'm glad I can't go anywhere for the next year or so. Hopefully Disney will see some error to their ways. I love staying onsite but I will rethink all my plans with the information that was released today. Disney is always changing things up. Occasionally they realize they have gone too far and do something to rectify things. Time will tell...

I wouldn't mind the train if it was a direct routing to Disney Springs and wasn't one that required a transfer along the way. We'll see.

Edit to add. Just did more reading on the train and it's like a VIA train not a "every 20 minutes" commuter train. I don't think it will work as an option afterall.

If I didnt already have our 5-day passes and boatloads of gift cards, we probably wouldn’t bother returning at this point. Park reservations, no Fp, no early/extra hours, etc it all just feels like we are being nickel and dimed. The magic is dwindling...and I think some of it has to do with covid and some not.

After cruising and going to DL the past few vacations, we've gotten used to hiring a car. They allow one stop on the way, which is great for picking up drinks and groceries, and the personal, when you need it service is so nice to have.

Same sad situation here.
We have four unused 7-day passes (that I redeemed my hard earned Airmiles for) from our cancelled March break trip and unused Disney gift cards plus value of our flights sitting in travel bank credits. If we had already taken the trip before they declared Covid a pandemic last year, I probably wouldn’t even care or think about returning to WDW at all.

All this talk of no more DME has me rethinking a lot of things. I have been putting off getting a new puppy until after a trip to Disneyland and another trip to DisneyWorld. If Disney keeps putting up roadblocks (like taking away perks and not bringing back shows and fireworks) I might just decide to put all that vacation money into a new puppy sooner.

If the Brightline between MCO Airport and Disney Springs is similar to the Pearson UP Express it may be feasible, but not if it is a scheduled non-frequent service more akin to a VIA train.

I think the MCO>DS run is a spur off, not on the mainline, so maybe it could end up being more like the UP Express ?

OTOH, I don't think I'd want to be russling the amount of luggage we have for even just the two of us onto the train, having to store it out of sight, etc. Would rather pay for a private car service that has a 30 minute grocery stop.

From what I have heard is its all one line and Disney Springs is a stop on the way to Tampa. It's not an express line at all.

You're correct. https://**************.net/2020/11/disney-springs-brightline-train-rwb1/

That would seem to make it not a particularly viable option for people arriving to the airport...

That's us too! I even have an expired child's ticket that I was planning to use towards an AP for all the trips I was going to take in 2021 for the 50th and my 50th... sigh.

Next big trip was supposed to be with my ss family and his 3 kids. Having to get 2 rental cars, car seats will be a real pain. The part that bothers me the most is the change in EMH. Letting onsite guests in half hour early at each park doesn't let you accomplish much, but for those staying offsite, you won't ever have the opportunity to be at rope drop and get to ride some of the headliners without a wait. Unless they bring FP back.
