I am trying to decide if we are going to do the YNAB More Money Challenge. We did it previously under a different name and saved a ton, but our budget is already really pared down in anticipation of our trip so I'm not sure how much more we can realistically cut back without feeling deprived.

My only challenge this year is to try to avoid Costco and save myself loads of money in doing that. I am also doing grocery store pick ups so I stay on meal plan and don't find something there I can't live without. I try to avoid my trigger places to shop so I don't go over. There is always something new at Costco that I see and want. I'm only going to go for the essentials. Anything left over from online shopping can be saved. It's really the only category that I have flexibility on. Good luck saving this year! Put yourself first.

Costco and Sam’s you can easily spend a lot of $$$. online shopping is a great idea! Walking throug the stores there’s so much to see and temptations.

during Christmas I ended up on the Bath and Body Works craze big sale. I bought something little for 4 coworkers . Somehow I spend $112.00 in two transactions 🤷🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️. I bought some stuff for myself too! I looked in my closet and found 2-3 body wash and some old lotions from B&BW. I gave my coworkers their little gifts.
I took a step back and decided do I really need all of it🤷🏽‍♀️ I kept one lotion and 2 body wash. I returned 7 lotions and 8 hand soaps.. that money will go towards my 52 week challenge $2022

I know. My closet is full of beauty items, face lotions, serums, sheet masks, hair stuff. I am buying none of it for 2022. None. I will use up what I have this year and free up closet space. I will use that face lotion on my body if I have too.:)

This will be my fourth year of doing the standard 52 week challenge where you start with $1 per week, then $2, then $3 and so forth and end with $1378.00. I do this through Capital One 360 and just transfer it from my checking account each week.

It's not enough to cover our Christmas expenses but it certainly is a large chunk of it. We also have a automatic $10 per week that goes into a separate savings account for Christmas.

I do this one as well but start at 52 and go down. Then when I hit 24 I add it with the lowest and do 25 each week until I finish. Then I start over again. Does make it so I need to keep track but the first year I did it when I got to the low numbers it just seemed silly for me to do it that way. It also helps that I get paid every week so it and my other savings comes out before I pay bills each Friday.

I just update my deposit for the monthly challenges. I’m also going to set aside my rewards cash that I earn.

I also have a FSA/ medical reimbursement account thats automatically deposited in a separate account. I’m going to try and not touch it so I can roll it over into a special savings account. I rolled over my fsa 2021 account and it was around $1250.

I have a few goal ideas I'm kicking around, but right now one of the things I'm committing to is selling things I don't use. Generally I try to sell them, but get sick of the clutter, and just end up donating. I've just listed bunch of things on Poshmark and I will persist with it.

That’s a great idea. My daughter and I have a bunch of stuff listed on offer up but need to update it.

is Poshmark easy? Is it as it sells or will buyers try and get their money back? My daughter has a lot of nice clothes that teens and young adults would like.

on offer up I just don’t like the flakes. I’ll have to update my Facebook sale page for an old fb group I’m in, if it’s still active lol!

Im so into saving money this year. I got bit by the budget bug lol!

I'm pretty happy with Poshmark. Buyers aren't scammy in the way I've experienced on eBay-- not saying they're all like that, but once you've had your money clawed away twice...

Poshmark has an interesting culture of making offers. So if you list a, say, sweatshirt for 20$ and a prospective buyer 'likes' it, it's generally accepted that you'd then message the liker with an offer-- maybe 10% off or free shipping. I never do that-- who has the time!-- but it probably boosts sales.

I don’t think I’ll like trying to figure out the shipping cost lol!

My dd got hired as a teacher. Yipeeee! Still has to wait for paperwork for it to be official and to get her classroom. Right now she’s a residential sub subbing for a teacher that’s out. Once she get her classroom she will start taking her classroom/school supplies and stuff she bought out of my garage 🎉. Then I can start getting to my packed stuff to sell, donate or throw away. My garage is a mess! Any money made will be saved. I’ve never been so excited to save money or do money challenges lol!

Month #2 so far so good. DD got her job and paperwork is completed. She’s just trying to get situated so the garage has been on hold. I’ll probably try and get started to see what I can sell in my spare room first. I haven’t been feeling 100%. I’ve had issues with sciatica, body feeling tight, asthma.
My 1st Goal will be to sell $100 worth of stuff before summer

New update in my 1st post.
I’m keeping on track with my savings. Ive been staying out of the stores and only buying what I need.

I will be getting a raise at work so I plan on putting that into savings too. I really need to look into getting an additional retirement plan.

My daughter bought me a budget binder with the plastic zipper money envelopes . I’ve been eyeing it and she ordered it for me 😊💕.

I haven’t been able to sell my used stuff. I’ll do it this summer when I have more time Or just might donate it 🤷🏽‍♀️

#3 UPDATED TOTALS as of 6/12/22 on task😊

The credit union account I have I was going to use for my Christmas fund and misc $ 2022 fund had been bought out by another company. I hadn’t used it in about 2-3 years But kept the $25 in it to keep it open. it was a small building before it it was bought out. They still have the small building but only the bigger building in a different city can be visited or used by the members. I called to make sure my info and beneficiaries were updated. Never got a call back. Called a 2nd time and was told again , that they needed to get info on their next visit to the old small building 🤷🏽‍♀️. I finally drove two cities over( out of my way) to talk to them. Nothing on file so I filled out a new one. I’m glad I checked before throwing in money.

Make sure your beneficiaries are updated. I even double checked on my work life insurance. My husband grandma didn’t have her work one filled out/ updated supposedly when she retired. When my mother n law went to collect, she was told nothing on file🤷🏽‍♀️ Grandma had worked there for several years and retired 5 years ago.
