OMG - Has this been discussed yet? Just checked for 1st week of April....It's nuts!!!!

Port Orleans - $317 per night
All Stars - $200 per night
Polynesian - $760 per night for standard room, $1,008 for a lagoon view!!!!
Yacht Club - $679 per night
Grand Floridian - $855 for a standard room!!!

Lol - These are insane!

Imho, yes. Peak rates are getting out of hand. Am very interested to see what demand is going to be like next year. Been a relatively soft 2019.

Yeah, it's pretty crazy! I was looking for a week to go with my son. I booked 1/25-2/1 since that was cheapest. The week before Easter is almost twice as expensive. No thank you!

$1,008 for a lagoon view at the Polynesian. I paid half that for a theme park view 7 years ago. Wilderness Lodge is $672 per night!!! It was under $400 about 3 years ago.

The first two full weeks in April (4/5-4/19/20) are Easter Weeks. That would be the second most expensive time of year to go. You can not compare those dates in 2020 to the rack rates in 2019 for those same dates.

Didn't realize that. I would have thought airfare would be more expensive then. I got 4 round trip tickets from Boston to Los Angeles for $1,100. Hotel near Disneyland for a good price too.

Actually, Easter is the 12th. I checked for 4th - 11th.

There is no time of year that Polynesian is worth $1008 a night. :rotfl:
Someone will pay it. Maybe not you. And certainly not me. But someone will. Disney doesn’t throw numbers against the fridge to see what sticks. They have people who analyze what the market will bear and base their numbers on that data.

FWIW - I am currently booking a week at the end of May - which should be a moderately busy time, certainly not peak.

I was unable to find a room at any moderate resort for under $280/night after taxes. Art of Animation and Pop Century were both over $200 per night as well. I am looking to do a DVC points rental through a popular website and that will come out far cheaper than even a rack rate moderate and almost the same price as Pop. I couldn't believe the costs.

The week before Easter is Holy Week. A lot of schools are off for at least part, if not all, of that week. Disney has traditionally raised rack rates for both the week prior to and the week following Easter Sunday.

Never heard of that. In the Northeast, all schools have the 3rd week off as their spring break.

I agree that many schools have some days off during Holy Week, and I live in the NE, too. The NE is a pretty large area---not all schools have the same basic calendar. :) Heck, we don't even get a Spring break in our district. We only get off 1 or 2 days for Easter! But we know kids in schools that get more time. (Public schools, I mean, because private schools are a whole other matter, especially some Catholic or Christian schools. :) )

I live in the Northeast. Not all schools...

Boston public schools do. As do Worcester. I assumed most would since those are the biggest cities in Massachusetts.

I believe most of MA is off Patriots Day week, and a good chunk of CT/RI. Half the districts in NH do the 3rd week, half do the 4th week. I don't know where VT and Maine fall. Once you get out of New England, I don't know anything (I have no teacher connections outside of New England)

we are planning on a trip April 21-28th; live in MA where vacation is Patriots Day week 4/20-25.
All Stars are priced at $148.29/night.
last trip for a long time, prices are just getting out of hand IMO. Can I pay it, yes, but will choose not to after this.
Retiring in March 2020 and promised the grand daughters a trip to Disney to celebrate my retirement.

Yeah, it can vary a little depending on when Easter falls (we are in Southeastern MA, this past school year our April vacation started on Patriot's Day and ended with Easter). In 2018 Easter was really early, so they gave us Good Friday off and then had vacation during Patriots Day week.

Other parts of the country and some non-public schools do set their spring vacations earlier in April, it just depends on the school district.

Yes I expressed my disgust when these rates came out in June. They want over $200 a night for Pop the same dates next year that I paid $130 for this year. Ridiculous.
