2019 Princess Half Marathon Weekend

Question for previous runners, a friend of mine that previously ran wine and dine said that on Sunday evening they closed Epcot at 7:00 and it was only open to race runners. Do they do anything like this for princess? Trying to make some fastpass decisions and need to make up my mind.

Nah... Wine & Dine is the only race with an after party. All park times will be typical.

That is my exact fear! My paranoia started when I sent an email to runDisney back in August to find out if there was any way to know which items were preorder only and which would be available for purchase at the expo. This was the response I got:

"All of the commemorative items available for preorder are only available online in a preorder capacity. There will be additional merchandise available at the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo, possibly in different designs, but those items are not guaranteed. Please know that all items available at the expo are subject to availability."

If I do preorder a bundle I'd be ordering either the challenge or the half marathon, but I truly appreciate the offer! If they'd just offer the AP/DVC discounts online it would make these decisions so much easier lol.

If you have to go with one; I'd go with the Half Marathon bundle; only because looking at it... you know you did that half marathon which is an accomplishment in itself. 'Challenge" (while awesome) doesn't really hit home for me... AND it's nearly impossible to find limited edition Aurora stuff in the parks - with the live action Aladdin coming out; you will probably find Jasmine stuff everywhere. I feel like they are more likely to have that at the expo than Aurora.

Just my opinion. :yay:

Does anyone know if you can combine two separate tickets to create an annual pass? I have a 5-day ticket for the princess weekend and I'm going to star wars weekend too. Going to upgrade my 5-day ticket to an AP but I want to book fast-passes for Starwars at the 60-day mark. Or can I call Disney and upgrade my 5-day ticket now even though it's with a package?

Since you clarified that you just have the one ticket, as the PP said you can upgrade that to an AP.

Thank answers my question. I have one 5 day ticket. Guess I'll just have to make my Star Wars weekend FP as soon as I upgrade in February.

It’s actually possible that things have changed enough that you might be able to upgrade to the AP now. Call and see.

Like PP said the after party is just for Wine and Dine as it ties in with Food and Wine....
I want to say during Princess they do something Sunday at Disney Springs but it might be just encouraging princesses to use their race discount shopping

But FYI you don't need Chear squad to watch from MK! Anyone can go! No ticket needed, either. You're in and out of the park before it opens. Chear just gives you a specific place to watch from.

This is great news! Do you know whether the Starbucks is open during this time? I know my parents and husband will want coffee. I’m so glad my parents won’t need a ticket to get in and watch.

They don’t really have that anymore. When they did it wasn’t a party, it was like you said, a time to use the discount with your medal.

But now the DS vendors go with medal or bib, so everyone goes from the expo to DS the first day and takes all the freebies before anyone has run a race. And as far as I can tell there are no, or no good, discounts anymore. It’s become very disappointing.

I shall ask my cousin. Her husband, autistic son, and brother in law did a video project for the Half in 2018 where they spectated. Hit TTC, MK, and the finish without issues or difficulty. Her husband is very familiar with Wdw, but everything is different in the dark for a race, and they said it was all well signed and simple.

Agreed, but I think there’s usually a BOGO free cupcake at Sprinkles. That’s the one I use!

I asked, and cousins husband didn’t even know there was a Starbucks lol. They stopped going to Disney a few years back (our princess trips are park-free) and their last visit might have been before Starbucks.

Ugh, I’m sick. I was already a week behind in training because of scheduling issues from my son’s Nutcracker ballet and holiday season and then him being sick, and now it’s going to be more.

It’s the 10k, and I know I can do that, but I really wanted to be fully trained his time, especially since we aren’t doing multiple races this time. I’m so bummed.

Oh no, being sick is no fun, but sometimes you need to let your body rest. I hoe you can catch up and make this coming week great.

I've been trail running all autumn and had one long (16 km/10 mi) road run last weekend. It was extremely fast - too fast. I was sore for five days. Our run club starts on the road again this coming weekend. Fingers crossed I can get some long enough training runs in before we leave. Only 44 sleeps to go!

I know the feeling! Felt terrible all day today and already so far behind in training. Oh and just to add to the fun, pretty sure I broke my pinky toe this morning stubbing it on my IKEA stool that sits in my closet. Hope you feel better soon though!

Hey all.... sorry if this was on an earlier post that I can't find but does anyone remember from last year how the characters lined up? I'm trying to figure out if they are bunched together in the beginning or should I hold off (to save time) for the ones near the end?

Assuming the course remains the same, the characters are fairly well spaced out. Not many on World Drive, of course. The largest number are likely to be in the stretch from the MK parking lot to the Grand Floridian, and then again in Epcot.

Last time I ran the Princess Half there were a few characters between World Drive. On my way to MK there was a small line so I thought I'd wait until the way back. The characters were still available on my way back but the lines were 10x as long because a few of the latter corrals were still on their way to MK. YMMV depending on your corral but something to keep in mind.
However, it's also been 5 years since I ran Princess so things may have changed.

I'm right there with you. My training season has been a disaster. Thank goodness I'm not doing the half, but I still want to feel good at the end of it and get a decent time.

Yep.

And of course I chose 12/30 to weigh myself again (and scream lol). Since you and I were losing at the same time I figured you’d have empathy for that. Good news is I didn’t gain it *all* back. But close enough. Sigh.

Since March (in other words just after last princess!) I’ve gone through a surprise divorce, and as the dust settled with the lawyer meetings etc, I realized I was in a very deep depression and hadn’t had a clue. I realized I’d been depressed as it slowly started to lift.

So the continued slow steady gain makes sense. The pretending it wasn’t as much as it was makes sense. Doesn’t make it easier!

and this has to do with training because it’s easier to run when I’m lighter!

Ok, sorry for the whine. :):)

I'm going to watch this thread as the Feb Princess 5K comes up to motivate me to try it for 2020! I tried searching through all the threads, but it was so long. Is there always a Princess event in Feb? And does it always fall during Pres Week?

I'm the laziest person in the world, but turning 40 this year and this seems like a very motivating way to get my butt off the couch!

Thanks!

Princess is a pretty stable scheduled event. Next year it will be Feb 20-23. Registration starts June 4.
